Relax and Take a Deep Breath

Me thinks everyone should calm down a wee bit.

0-2 ain't a great way to start the season but we did it in 1996 and we all know how that ended.

This week we play Carlton who will be coming off the Subi curse. Week after we play a lacklustre Melbourne outfit.

We should be 2-2 in two weeks and everything should be rosy once again

I think you're assuming that everyone is panicking, which I've actually seen few signs of.

I am frothing at the mouth and running around in ever decreasing circles towards complete emotional collapse.

You shouldn't start them!!! We should win every week. Then we can all get a good nights sleep, and live happily ever after.

The difference today from other games of late was that we had no answers. No fight. It was more than just poor judgement or skills, there was very little committment. At times it came awfully close to players 'dogging it' and that has never been in the Swans' manual.

Interesting to see where the team goes from here. Today they were just abysmal.

The night after we announced the Team of the Century the team played Hawthorn and were as flat as could possibly be.
Some months later we defeated Port Adelaide away from home in a final which was as fine an hour that the club has had.

Don't be too quick to get sucked in, into the muck the media loves to throw.

What really worries me is not a lost game, but how they lost it. For a team not showing their usual fithing spirit was really shocking especally on a day like that. It reminded me of a loss they had against the Hawks in 2003 in front of the Swans team of the century.

I'm not only pretty down as I write this, but am actually both stunned & more important alarmed as to how ill-prepared to deal with the new rule changes, with Leo Barry's somewhat stunned & non-commital answers at the Kings Cross after-match not exactly alleviating my fears.

I know it is early day, BUT I fear that our game plan has NOT evolved at all from last year one iota.

Last year we kept teams like Port to under 8 goals. Now we are having 8 goals kicked on us in a quarter of footy & once again are completely lacking in the height department in defence, playing often lairish non-checking players like Schneider down there.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Also the 72000 game at Homebush as well.

I just felt so sorry for all the dignitories in attendance. But let's face it, our club has often led us down too often in the past on such occasions. They'd haved all just rolled their eyes and gone "Here we go again" with a rueful laugh.

I'm nervous as hell about our game against Carlton now too.
