    Mathews must go

Surely the value of this bloke to the team is at an all time low.

He was way off his man all day, has no centre bounce value at all even as a tagger, disposal was sorrowful and is just too slow.

And I think I am being kind.

We have to introduce new players to the team and refresh the 1's. To think that all players who won us the flag will do it again is folly. I hope the coaches show some guts and put real pressure on all players to retain their spot.

They can start by dropping this dud.

Replace Mathews with Spriggs or Malceski.

          Is it only Mathews?

What about his mates Jude Bolton, Jared Crouch, Paul Chambers, Darren Jolly, Adam Schneider etc. etc.

I think we must look at bringing in some younger players (such as McVeigh who I like when he gets the ball) and let players learn that they simply will not be picked on reputation alone.

Bolton came good last season as the season went. Way better than Mathews.

Crouch I reckon might need to get into the midfield. He's got no hope on tall forwards.

Dont agree with dropping Jolly. At the moment he is our only ruckman.

Schneider is ONLY a forward. Play as a true small forward and not a midfielder. Doesn't deliver well enough for a midfielder, although not alone there, and not physically strong enough. Why try to make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

Moore should play in the Victorian/Melbourne matches no matter what. He has a HUGE following among the ex-Dandenong Stingray teammates who are his own cult cheersquad.

Stupid to consider dropping players of Judes & Jarrods calibre...

One thing is for sure Swansong, you will never get kicked off the Mathews bandwagon due to lack of space.

after MOL and Bazz and start Crouchie in the BP.

Mathews has looked incredibly slow in the past two games. Really looks like someone who has just come up from the VFL and is struggling with the pace of AFL.

Actually, that's what a lot of our side looks like at the moment. The game seems a lot quicker so far this year and the Swans are still playing the slow style of last year.

Mathews is very average, always has been and always will be.

No need for big changes though, we're only 2 weeks in, it's still very early days.

We know Roos won't make wholesale changes but he's got nothing to lose by bringing a couple in.

By all reports Willo could be out injured. That frees up one spot.

McVeigh wasn't the absolute worst out there and I'd be inclined to give him one more week. But Malceski absolutely has to come in this week, and the McVeigh role is the most obvious one for him.

Alternatively, Malceski could be slotted in on a HBF and Dempster moved further up the ground for longer. Dempster has all the tools but is still playing as if he's a bit part player. He needs to have a really big game to convince himself that he can become a key part of the team.

Even though Crouch is far from fully fit, he does have leg speed. Would be daft to drop him. But I'd play him through the middle as much as he can cope with.

Notwithstanding the fact that Vogels didn't play particularly well today, I'd be tempted to bring him in to play in defence, and use Barry as a HBF right from the start.

Schneider's not done much in the past fortnight but they'll need someone to keep an eye on Betts, and it's between him and Crouch, so he'll probably stay.

Davis is supposedly in the best condition of his career, so maybe play him in the middle for large stretches, and bring someone like Moore in to mostly play as a small forward. It would change the dynamics of the forward line somewhat, which I think it needs right now.
