Bloods ARE DUDS in 2006

Probably the most enjoyable moment I have when at a Swans' match is watching the opposition supporters leaving early.
It just gives me great pleasure watching them slink out with miserable looks and their tails between their legs.
For that reason I will never EVER leave a match before it is finished.
It's not necessarily backing the team to the bitter end, its just not giving the opposition that same satisfaction of seeing me leave early.

Fair enough, each to his own. I frankly couldn't give a toss about what opposition supporters think of us and I don't think much about them when we win. I watch for my own enjoyment of the game and that we're playing well and hopefully win.

The only times we've left early is with a few minutes to go, we've played like idiots and are miles behind, and it's a big crowd. Not something we've done a lot of, but I just don't see the big deal.

Thats crap... so you guys who pack up and leave early are the same sort of people who wouldnt pay there membership if the boys werent winning more than they were loosing... U back a team because you love the team and the game, to me that is thick and thin, good with bad

well i dont see how if people can sit out a quater of loosing footy how theyd stick with a year or more of the stuff...
I see it as fair weathered but am happy to be proven otherwise

I enjoyed the Grand Final as much as anyone and I had actually resigned myself to a poor year this year. However, the sheer lack of effort on Sunday shocked me. How can I not feel cynical about all the 'bloods' stuff that Kirk goes on about when I see players not chasing - they were playing like millionaires. Being angry and dissappointed is a natural emotional response when the team to which you are emotionally bonded lets you down - badly. By all accounts Jude and Leo were pretty shattered as well and I would hope there are some angry angry players during the week. I hope they feel shamed and come out angry and pumped this week. If they don't they will probably lose again.

As for blind faith and a constant positive attitude irrespective of the way they play - sorry but I cannot do it. I need to vent. But if that's your cup of tea, fair enough.

BTW, I have not left a game early, but I can understand those that do. Mind you, if you had left in the Geelong final last year, then that would be somewhat tragic.

If you are referring to leaving at 3QT then I think that is too early. However, I don't really equate it with not being able to sit through a year of poor football or with being fair weathered. I do hate this view that certain things are required to be a "real supporter"...

But with regard to leaving a few minutes before the siren, I don't see any problem. Let's say you are 10+ goals down and 5 minutes to go. You decide to stay, you see a couple more ugly turnovers and another opposition goal. The Swans hang their heads and trudged off through the race on the opposite side of the ground. What did staying that extra 5 minutes achieve for anyone?

As far as I am concerned true supporters dont leave early. Those who leave early are not true lovers of the game or their team.

Same here, In all my 127 years of supporting the Swans, I've never even been tempted to leave early. I showed up 45 minutes late to my own kidney operation just so I could appreciate the Swans humiliation at the hands of St.Kilda in the 2004 finals. To leave early is the act of a low dog gutless pseudo fan. How can you be a true supporter if you don't feel your teams pain?
In fact, any casual examination of the Swans history demonstrates that pain and degredation are a vital part of being a Swan fan.
Not only do I stay to the bitter end of every game we lose, I frequently remain in my seat untill they clear the scoreboard and the janitor askes me to leave. In fact my loyalty to the team forces me to stay suffering in my seat for hours after. After one particularly bad loss, being sneared at by the opposition cheer squad didn't seem enough so I joined in 13 chorusses of "Good Old Collingwood Forever" with Joffa and his friends just so I could appreciate the teams pain.
In fact I don't think you should be allowed to celebrate the ultimate victory of 2005 without appreciating the degredation of 1992-93. So all of you who weren't there should immediately stop thinking about it because your not true supporters.

I was very disappointed when the AFL banned floggers, I found them very helpfull thoughout the dismal 60's.

Who the heck has written the book on supporter etiquete in any case? I left at 3/4 time because the effort was insipid and the beer is better at the Olympic. They have had our membership money for years, they had us riding and encouraging their every best endeavour and on Sunday for the second week in a row, they did not show up to destroy, therefore the most adoring fan is allowed to leave. The team that took the comp last year was a big-hearted, ruthless warrior, looking to win every contest, that team did not grace the SCG on Sunday.

I don't believe you have to lose commitment after winning the flag. Every day people work their ring off to sustain their family and support crew, year after year. Now is not the time to retire!

I believe we'll bounce back. We will start winning again because the pride in performance will overtake the current mental lethargy.

I talked to Roosy about the poor start yesterday - he says everything is going to plan.

The problem the coaching staff and the player group have, according to Roosy, is how to exceed the tension and excitement from last year. So the agreed plan is to lose 10 on the trot, and win the following 12, thereby barely squeezing into the final 8. From there its a breeze, as we simply need to win 4 away games against the best sides to claim our second flag.

The only plan Roosy says he has is, what is the plan for 2007 if he pulls out all his best secrets now?

The plan apparently has been prepared in great detail and from what I can see is being executed to perfection.
