I don't know what happened at full-time because I left at 3/4 time along with half the crowd. I had already wasted an afternoon watching a team that wasn't putting any effort into the contest, I certainly wasn't going to waste anymore time sitting in the car park.
Poor performance should never be rewarded. It's not acceptable for Junior level let alone at the professional level.
I had hoped last week's loss may have been a wake-up but obviously not.
Then on the other hand I can understand how difficult it must be for the players to motivate themselves after last year's final series. I'm just a supporter and I'm still not overly excited that the footy is back on. So I can imagine what it must be like for the players.
Paul Roos has a major job on his hands now in trying to wake the players up.
Have a look at the front sport's page in todays Australian. Ther are two photo's. Leo's mark in the GF and the second a photo of him on his knee. It's titled: Bloods to Bloody awful.
It seems that Jason Ball's retirement will be a huge hole to fill but I think even if he was out there yesterday it would not have made any difference because no-one bothered to turn up to play.
Maybe 5 or 6 players should be dropped for the next two weeks and the Club suffers some further short term losses in the hope that it might shake up moral. Opportunity and spark generated by the younger players from the 2's might help the situation.
I'm certainly not saying the season is over after just two losses. We could lose the first six games and still be a chance for September however not if the desire is not there.
Are there any suggestions out there for morale lifting for the players? I don't expect Paul Roos to take notice of what's written here but I'm sure the players read this site to catch up what real supporters are thinking.
