As a pom from a background of Liverpool FC (bear with me - I'm a convert to what I only knew as 'ariel ping-pong before!) - I'm on my 4th annual swans membership, and in terms of value for money, I reckon we have it pretty good.

In the UK, a membership will get you 19 games for an average price of $750!!

Yes, but what does it cost as a walk up?

Yeah - Premier league soccer is at least 40 quid (approx $100) a game walk up...and I reckon that would be the cheapest...so you are much better off getting a membership over there however I think they are out of reach for a lot of people simply because it is so much money to pay upfront.
        Go you mighty BLOODBOYS!

I think that the Melbourne membership also gets you access to a few Sydney names (in Sydney), so that's an extra little bonus.

I think you get to go to 3 Sydney games, as well as the standard Melbourne ones.

Its not helped by the "loss making entities" of Footscray and North Melbourne having their 'home' games out of Melbourne. If only it were still South Melbourne.

I dropped off buying one for a year or two, the Melbourne Office has been getting its @ss together more lately though.

Screw AFL Memberships. The Bloods are the ONLY thing in the AFL worth watching, and putting up with the no-cursing, not yelling too hard, coffee selling, reserved seat AFL rubbish. Long live the VFL competition (and the Boroughs!)

The people sitting near me were complaining more about the location of the seats. Sitting in the heavens, not at ground level.

Last year the guy said he used to just walk in and sit where he wanted, but now they want to charge him $38 to sit @ Ground level.

Last year I used to buy 3 kids ticks (reserved) for $2.20 each at the gate (they weren't members) and I got mine for nothing just showed my membership. Last nihgt I was forced to sit in Lvl 3. Is this normal.

I am a victorian member. We paid about $18 for my wife and child (non-members) for reserved seats. We were placed in aisle seats right along side the cheer squad. Great seats, and as my daughter was on debut, at the age of 3, she had a great time waving flags and singing along.
We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty.

Without looking at all the other Melbourne clubs websites this is standard ($1.00 off per game) for all other season ticket catergories for the Melbourne clubs.

So in answer to your question, there is no difference and therefore value for money.

Well yes there is value for money, your $105.00 goes to the Swans and not to general revenue that is then split 16 ways after the AFL has spent most of it.

That's not what I see as value for money. That's good for the club, but you don't get anything special for your money.

                              What more do you want?

The AFL give the clubs the option to sell memberships and take the money themselves without it going through the AFL's hands. The only stipulation is that the clubs can't mark up the basic season ticket and are not allowed to discount more than the 5%.

Would you prefer that the AFL sell one membership for all 16 clubs and then just split's the money 16 ways once it has spent some of it?

We get three games in Sydney too, main problem is going to Kardinia where there is no room!
