Normally when you pay for a whole season/year of something up front you get a benefit - such as a cheaper cost per game (and more meaningful than $1). If for whatever reason you miss a game you've done your dough.

This argument of 'you're paying extra to support your club' reminds me of people who actually buy calendars and go to crap end of year functions and pay way over the top prices to pay for the players' end of season trip, as if they couldn't afford it anyway.

If you are unhappy with the price you pay, don't be shy in emailing Tony or Lucinda in the Swans Melbourne office. They don't come across as the types who'd fob you off.

I think you'll find that the costs of having a reserved seat at the Dome are actually quite prohibative. Does your membership entitle you to a set seat at the Dome or MCG? Do any of the memberships the club has on offer do this?

to be fair though, I just had a look, and those packages don't give you any special rights when it comes to finals or grand final tickets.

The season holder ticket doesn't either at $105. The Victorian one, for $140, gives Grand Final preference but no guarantee and nothing on other finals that I saw.

(Although interestingly it does suggest that the season holder ticket is possibly better value for money - I suppose the way to consider it is that I've spent an extra $35 to have the possibility of getting a GF ticket and on the off chance I can get to Sydney).

In the Bulldogs one it says "it saves you more than 25% off general admission prices" - this is value for money.

You can get a guaranteed GF ticket for an extra $105. So that is only about $23 per game on the upgraded plan.

Guaranteed GF ticket for a Swans member is only about $30 less but for 5 less games.

Hmmm.. fair enough. I'm saving something in the order of 40% or so for my membership (but my seats are hilariously exxy to buy through ticketek)
