    Geelong v. Hawthorn - SPOILER

Hawthorn smashed Geelong down at Skilled Stadium today.

    Mixed news for the Swans.

On the negative side, it highlights how even the competition is, which means we can't afford to let our guard down at any time, as we have done a bit so far, and how tough it will be to go back-to back.

On the positive side, it indicates that with such an even field there is unlikely to be a runaway favourite and as long as the Swans stay in the mix, as last year, anything can happen.

Wow, talk about the unexpected. I'm betting no one tip this result.

Did Geelong miss Scarlett, or were they just horrible?

From what I saw (and also going by comments made in the box) Geelong were just flat, smashed at the stoppages and the Hawks just wanted it more.

As Bloods said, it comes down to showing up on the day, and the teams that turns up to play will beat the one that doesn't pretty much every time now because there is no easy game.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

They lost King early in the game, and the Scarlett absence meant that they didn't have the same flexibility with Mooney that they normally have. Got absolutely smashed in the ruck and generally in the midfield.

Scarlett's absence had some impact, therefore, but you'd think their midfield would be good enough to hold its own, even if the ruck is struggling. It wasn't as if they got smashed by one big forward that Scarlett would have kept under control.

I totally agree ( ). It also makes winning tonight all the more important as it'll mean we're only one win behind (former?) premiership favourites Geelong
