So who was the Swans' best?

Difficult one for me this week, but will no doubt cause derision ..!

Davo was great in short bursts. Bazza worked hard and allowed at least 3 goals by taking 2 with him. Magic kicked a few and lead hard up the ground.

Kirky put his body on the line, and Jude added scores to his usual blood 'n guts display.

However, IMO, LRT took the award tonight. Bar 2 rushes of blood, he was extremely composed, marked strongly, brought the ball out with authority and generally left me with a new respect!

(fully awaiting the onslaught of differing opinions, but willing to defend! )

As I posted in the main game thread, I thought LRT had an ordinary game tonight.

I reckon Jude was the best. Not great but the best tonight.

          Well.

          Jude & Kirk was good.

          Worst.
Chambers - why did we get him?

LRT - needs more skills practice

I don't like to skill errors in the back half in which cost us goals.

I much prefered Richards up forward rather than in the defensive 50.

Chambers .... why?? As much as I respect Roos and his ability - what does he know about this guy that we don't??

Super Ted played well in the first half...showed quite a bit of promise lining up on the HFF. Jude played well, Kirky racked up quite a few possies as did Leo who had a pretty solid game this week. I don't think any of them were brilliant, but they are on the right track and we won!

I guess it was one of those games where no one really played 3 or 4 good quarters. A number of players played well in patches and that was good enough to get us over the line

Jude was hard at it as usual, Kirk was much better than in previous weeks.

I thought Buchanan had an excellent patch in the 2nd quarter, and didn't really do much after that. Similarly, Richards took a few nice grabs up forward before being drafted down back.

Schneider did some nice runs from half back.

Goodes came into the game whenever he felt like it and looked disinterested at other times.

LRT I thought had one his better games, he delivered some nice kicks into the forward line. Yes he panicked when Betts came at him and he handballed to Fevola but that was as much Barry's fault as his.

But I would probably give it to Micky O kicking 4 out of our 12 goals.

yeah it would be hard to pinpoint our best players tonight but i would have to say jude bolton followed by kirky

buchanan was also pretty good IMO and i love his 1%ers in close

Where'd they be tonight without Barry "Hammer" Hall.

Always a timely touch and seriously, he has defenders scared of him.

He rucked the forward line all night and ended up being the best in that position of all ruckmen.

LRT delivers 1 nice pass to a forward and he is BOG. He gets a lot of his possessions 40 metres from his man. His disposal is often poor, resulting in a turn over, and an uncontested possession to his man that he left 40m away. He cannot stay on his feet, and regularly brings other Swans players down. I think his skills are slowly improving but his brain is not. I thought Saddo looked better than LRT tonight (but unike others here, I have always thought highly of Saddo - comparitively ). As for the handball to Fev, Leo put LRT in enough space to run a pace or two and kick. Why he turned back is beyond me

FWIW I though Jude was best for us, and that the Eski did enough to be asked back next week.

For all his knockers I thought Ben Matthews did well last night

Kicked a neat goal and mopped up well in defence late in the

                        game.

I don't like eski playing forward - it was too crowded up there

for him - better off the wing or half-back.

I agree, he is a beautiful kick to position. One pass in the last quarter to buchanan I think, must have travelled 50 metres and no more than a few on the ground, nailed him right on the chest. He looks composed and unhurried when he has the ball, more of what we need.

That's not the impression I got from my watching LRT during the game. I sat behind the cheersquad last night and I had several opportunities to watch LRT in defence.

LRT did get a lot of possessions 40 metres from his nearest opponent, but that's usual for our defenders when they are chipping the ball around looking for an option closer to goal. His disposal was reasonable under these circumstances; often he would kick the ball straight to his teammate who hardly had to move at all to take the mark.

He turned the ball over sometimes, but so did many Swans players last night.

LRT played okay last night and he did not look out of place on the ground.
