Out of interest, Davis was up and walking without appearing to have too much discomfort at the end of the game.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

You get a different sense of the better players watching it live - I guess you miss some of the close in stuff. Overall I thought it was an evenly ordinary performance right across the board.
However, in those odd passages when they cleared it quickly from defence and ran it right through the middle, Crouch seemed particularly prominant. Thought it was clearly his best game yet this year.
Other than that, quite liked the Schneiderman's game, capped off by that great chase near the end.
Goodes was one player who never stopped working, even if much of it came to little.
Monty was possibly more OK than most of them.
Malceski didn't star but certainly showed enough to suggest he can become a good player. Certainly should be persisted with.
Davis didn't touch the ball a whole lot but when he did he looked very classy. His long kick to Richards at the end of the first quarter was maybe the best kick by a Swan during the game... except maybe for the goal he kicked. A contender for goal of the round maybe?Comment

Personally I'm not too disappointed. That was the best game we've played this year - ok, there's not much competition but it was 300% on the Port game.
Could have gone either way & frankly we've probably done all right on the close game front in recent times.
The Dees aren't that bad a side either - they well may still make the 8 if Neitz stays fit.
I take a little bit of heart from this - great to see Taidhg back, great game from Malceskis until the 30th min of the 4th qr, good effort from Schneider on Davey. We'll get better yet, don't despair.Comment

Some positives there:
- We found some intensity at times and looked pretty decent when we were harder at it, but other parts of the game we were just so flat. John Longmire made this observation at the AM. You just can't afford to have your concentration and intensity ebb and flow as often as ours is at the moment.
- Our ball handling was a bit cleaner than it has been for the first few weeks - less fumbling trying to pick up the loose ball.
- Good to see Chambers do a little around the ground - will be a confidence booster. His palm down to McVeigh in the last quarter (the play where he was tripped) was Ball-esque from last year.
- Kennelly coming back. Not only does he give us run out of the backline and generally uses the ball well, but it was noticeable how much talking he does, how much directing other players out on the field.
Negatives:
- Let Pickett in particular roam free and wide. It seemed like most of his possessions came 30m in the clear. But that was symptomatic of our drops in intensity, not just slow of foot, but slow of mind and not reading the game so we were second to the ball.
- Delivery to the forward line. People have said Hall and MOL had poor games. Quite frankly, there was nothing they could do with the ball coming in the way it did. How many times was the ball kicked to Hall where he was either already in a 1-2/1-3 contest, or if not, playing body on body with Miller allowing another defender to zone off and spoil as 3rd man in the contest?
- Decision making in general - just slow and hesitant. Need to find some confidence to play more on instincts.
- Davis' injury. Although Longmire didn't know too many details, he said he thinks it was the same one Davis injured last year to keep him out for a few weeks.
The premiership credits have expired and the axe needs to be sharpened, if nothing else but to set an example that living on glories of 2005 will not be tolerated. Its now a month into 2006 and it's time to play at the standard expected, or go back to the magoos.
I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Did Moore survive the Ressies or was he injured? Maybe it's a time to bring him or Dempster back into the mix, assuming Willo will be back next week to hopefully help out in part of that prob.
I thought Chambers did some good stuff today, just needs to get his confidence level up. Very impressed by Ted Richards though, thought this was his best match playing in his preferred position up the ground.
Glad to see Tadgh back though.
But all in all, still a very disappointing effort across the board.Comment

Not how I saw it (at the game). It seemed we tried to kick to Barry when he was doubled teamed (1st half) and ignored him too many times in the 2nd half wnen he was one on one with Miller. When they did kick it to him it was seldom to Barry's advantage or just plain off line.Comment
