    Team changes V Cats

I think this match is going to be crucial to the remainder of our season. We can't afford to lose 3 home matches in a row and expect to be top 4, let alone top 6 or 8!

With Davis definately out and couple of players still struggling, what changes will be made this week? Vogals and Grundy might be close.

    IN

    Vogals

    OUT

    N. Davis

The tough one with bringing someone in for Davis is that, throughout any game, he plays as a leading full-forward (not that they kick it to him), a crumbing forward (not as much anymore because he is always leading himself), a half forward and a midfielder.

I thought Vogels should have been playing already after a strong pre-season, I wouldn't mind seeing him come in but he really only offers a leading forward pocket/tall hff.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Vogels in, Schneider moves forward, O'Keefe goes further back and sprays them from the half back line? I'd still like to see Ryan developed into a CHB, in the mould of a Schauble (without the social responsibility of course).

It will depend on whether Williams is back.

With Doyle and Moore now injured, Williams and Vogels are the only feasible 'ins' this week, and I think it will be a simple as one of them coming in for Davis.

Yes, I think we could develop him into a backman. Too short for CHB, but HBF yes.

Replace him on the HFF with Vogels.

I expect Williams to return for Davis and sadly that's the only change I expect.

Surely Dempster must be a possible inclusion?

You would think so, but that would mean either McVeigh or Malceski to go out for him.

Our line up will depend on how Geelong lines up.

With King, Kingsley, Playfair & Harley all out still and coming off a game against the Dog's where they picked a smallish running side then we will need to go with a runner to replace Davis.

Williams if he is fit would fit that bill. Dempster would also be up for that spot if Williams is unable to come up.

I like the idea of playing Vogels. The Cats will be very Hall concious so it would be good to provide the team with another target going forward this week.

If we can play as well as last week, but distribute the ball better this week going forward (ie not be as Hall concious) then we can giive it a real shake.

Must limit the damage that both Ablett Jnr & Chapman can cause so both Crouch & Mathews will be integral to the result as well.

I smiled to see the full back page of the Geelong Advertiser today devoted to Nick Davis.
The main headline being "NICK'S OFF" over a full page pic of Nick, and a smaller headline "Cats' nemesis Davis to miss return bout"

In the story it says "The news failed to excite Cats officials, with coach Mark Thompson insisting his players had put last year's finals defeat behind them"

It seems the Geelong Advertiser are excited about it!

Just caught channel 10 and they said that Willo will make his return this week.

Put Vogels in for Davis. Play 3 marking targets in the forward line at all times: Baz, Micky O and Richards alternating with Vogels as required. Put Schneider at their feet and bomb it in long and quick.

If we get it in there quickly, the Cats will have less chance to flood our forward line like they did the last time we played them.

If Willo is fit to play as well, then he could come in instead, but he's not as tall as Vogels.

They threw the Schauble mould away about Round 6 last year.

Vogels in gives another dimension up forward. Will be underrated and if kicks goals and we win it, will be weeks before any side rates him.

Radical thought. Interchange him with MOL off the bench.

MOL is not worth the proverbial of snow right now.
