      Dear Swansong,

See what happens when you start the Ben Matthews fan club! You end up like Ralph Wiggum, no friends.

I suggest you close this down and come and join my Vote #1 Paul Chambers drive.

      Kind Regards,
      S.U.D
Looking out for good omens which can bring the Swans the 2007 premiership

Yes, in the game where he broke the world record for turnovers.

Except, when they read out the vote it was:

          3 votes - Ben Matthews - Collingwood

Thanks - what an interesting brownlow site.
I notice even Saddo had 5 votes, NOG too.
Anyone else remember Kevin Hogan, an honest rover type of the 50's who also got 5?

Do recall Kevin Hogan. Blondy/sandy hair I think. I was only 10 when he gave it away. Brian McGowan picked up the job as understudy to Skilts after Kevin. Brian wore number 3.

Nico - we must be of similar vintage (1946) - yes I remember Hogan as a serviceable / likeable player as I recall from those heady (but terribly unsuccessful) Lake Oval days. It was another world.
Brian McGowan was a terrific player, though overshadowed by Skilts. Together (& with a few others like Johnson, Clegg, Keyter & Talor) they made many miserable results a little easier to take. Wish there was an equivalent at the moment.
