We have a fab view at Telstra - Cruiser, OldRoyBoy, Aussie Ange, myself and our various mates sit in the same spot - and have no complaints. Its about 20 feet from the bar & loos - we are about 30 rows behind the cheer squad and I have finally conceded that the Stadium is a better ground for the lads to play on.

Yes its a bugger to get to for some - but with a bit of planning - like prepaying in advance for P1 parking for all games this year is something that I have already done - its easier to get away from there than Moore Park. Or get the bus or train - that kind of thing.

I love the SCG, and up until Saturday afternoon it was still my favourite - but after seeing the lads play like we know they can - it seems that Telstra's bigger ground suits them much better these days - so Telstra for me!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Yeah, I'm afraid so. It is too old fashioned now. Even MCG got modernized, so it's time for SCG trust to think about the future of their ground. The Swans might not play home games there for ever, although they might still train there.

The SCG will need some upgrading. Telstra Stadium is a bugger to get to and if you drive the parking is miles away. No decent local pubs, ordinary view, but the boys are playing well there and as long as they win I'll get out there. Much prefer the SCG - service is better, beers available in the final quarter and still there's a traditional footy feel to the area.

There's a reason for that. Save Nauru.

i remember reading that the oldest structure at the mcg was built in 1990 or 91.
i like the scg as it is, but i'm sure it can be a superb ground for footy and cricket if they make some hard decisions.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

I love Telstra! The whole point regarding parking was that it was designed to be predominantly accessed by public transport, and I have yet to find somewhere in most of Sydney that doesn't have decent access to event services to Telstra - even places that have crap transport normally are well-serviced by event buses from what I can see, and the only donwside is if there is trackwork disrupting trains somewhere. And even if you do park at Telstra, it's dead easy to get out - well organised, lots of access points - compared to the SCG it's a dream run! I've just moved and it took me 10 mins on the bus (with a stop right outside my door) to get there, and I got a lift home, and was home in just over half an hour from the final siren. Even living in woop woop like I used to, it was only 40mins by bus on a bad day, or about the same to drive. Compared to the SCG, where it still takes me an hour if I take public transport (2 buses and walking), or about half an hour to drive, but $18 to park, and it used to take nearly an hour and a half by transport or an hour to drive, but costing almost $25 to get there (including parking).

Add to that, accessing food and drink on the whole is so much easier at Telstra - more places to buy, better distributed around the ground, better organised etc. And if you can't get a beer in the 4th quarter is it going to be the end of the world if you consume one less alcoholic beverage before the final siren?

The other good thing is that there are more loos for the ladies!

The only downside is that they work so damn hard to quickly empty the precinct post-match - going for a drink in the area would be nice but if there's desperation, hop on a bus or a train and voila - within 10 minutes you're at any number of watering holes - you can hit up Strathfield, Lidcombe, Concord, Concord West, Ryde, Parra, the Hills.

SCG needs signficant development. The trust must be having a very good look at the MCG.

I like Telstra - it's easier for me to get to but prefer the game atmosphere at the SCG.

telstra is a toilet..transport availble to ground ..at best ordinary. It is a long way from any decent pubs (the brasserie/bar at the novotel is a joke ). the ground surface itself is terrible (as seen on saturday night ).you are a long way from the play unlike the scg.
The SCG will be upgraded at the end of the 2006-07 cricket season and capacity will apparently increase to around 50k

It would appear to be a bit of a waste of money then.

Agree, the surface area needs to increase, we will struggle at the SCG this year i reckon...we are a different team now...
I will be at the Doggies v Swans and the SCG and i reckon the ground will suit the dogs far more than us.
