Surely the AFL can do the right thing for once and cancel that last behind.
It's a total injustice otherwise."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

The AFL website carries a story citing a precedent that also involved St Kilda going back to 1900 (I think it said). They UN-awarded a point to Melbourne giving the Saints the win .. by a point, of course. Thommo seemed to be in agreement (kind of .. ) in after match comments.Originally posted by ScottH
They reckon the draw will stand, but still waiting on official confirmation.
I reckon they'll give the Dockers the 4 points.
Furthermore, the number of regional grounds that have piss weak sirens (or hooters as I like to call 'em) eg. Manuka, is scandalous.
An accident waiting to happen, this was.Good men do good deeds. Evil men do evil deeds. But it takes religion for a good man to do evil deeds.Comment

No one I've spoken to actually heard the siren at the MCG on grand final day.
Imagine if Leo hadn't taken that mark and that had happened to us in the GF?
Freo has to get the points, even though it costs me the card."It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

They only recognised it when Tadhg jumped on top of Leo. I guess Byron Schammer should have jumped on top of umpire Nicholls.Comment

I was thinking he should have just grabbed the ball off the umpire and run away until the effin idiots realised that the game was over. What a shambles. Can you imagine how irate we'd would be if it happened to us?Originally posted by ugg

What did the umpires think the Freo players were doing when they were waving their arms around in protest as the ball was about to be bounced? It's not as though it's something you see very often. I've seen a couple of photos where the Freo players are celebrating, Riewoldt has taken his mouthguard out and another Sainter has got his arms crossed behind his head looking like he thinks the game is over. The players obviously heard it - I don't understand how NONE of the 3 umps did. What is even harder to fathom is that they took no notice of what was happening around them.
I hope they all get sacked.Comment

To be fair, those photos were taken after Baker had kicked the ball (1st time). Headland in particular seemed very sure they had won.Originally posted by monopoly19

I believe the rulebook states that the siren does not constitute the "end of the game" ... The umpire acknowledging that he/she heard it constitutes "end of game" - I think on those grounds, the draw stands.
I will go find that ruling now ... unless someone has a link to it.Comment

Frog, its been posted on the other Freo-StK thread. It was also pointed out that the timekeeper is meant to keep sounding the siren until the umpire acknowledges it, but this was not done either.Comment

Thanks Ugg - I hadn't got to that when I posted here.Originally posted by ugg
