I also got Monty's signature (on my cap). Not sure why Monty was outside when everyone else was inside but I was pleased to finally get a players signature on something. Monty struck me as being incredibly shy about the attention he was getting.

I thought that it was great to have all the players available to meet people and sign autographs like that. Do they ever do aything like that in Sydney ie have all the players signing?

I think kids younger than say 15 should be able to go to the front of the line for autographs.

That would be a reasonable thing to do with the amount of people lining up to get an autograph yesterday. I've reached the age where I don't need to interact with the players anymore, so I only go to aftermatches to stand at the back of the room, have a few drinks and talk about the about the game I just watched with all my mates rather than spend an hour lining up for an autograph that really will go missing somewhere down the line.

Yes, I agree. I wonder how many people (of an adult variety) were lining up that just to collect autographs only to sell them later on e-bay?

When we got to South Melbourne, what do we park next to? The players bus. They were in a restaurant across the road from Patony's - apparently the restaurant was 'closed for private function' I guess the players wanted to celebrate on their own without the fans!
                    I don't have a problem with that.

In the walkway outside the function. There was a small crowd mobbing him. I felt like such a groupie.

haha yeh i got buchanan outside the room as well, he does seem very shy actually
i like the idea of the 15 & unders allowed to go to front of line for autographs thats the reason i didnt bother staying because i couldnt be bothered waiting, especially when craig kirk and amon were outside the room anyway
We will mourn, but it will make us stronger....watch out AFL Sydney will be back in 2007 come September

After 40 something years of following a team I want something special to remember the Premiership. Most of the autographs on my premiership jersey were available at the Best & Fairest night, but some players left early. All I need is 5 more autographs before I get it framed, it would be a shame not to get them.
When I was under 12 the only way to get autographs was to run out onto the ground after the siren, and then you got a muddy autograph. Another way was to hang outside the rooms after the game, but my parents didn't want to hang around for an hour or so after a game. They didn't have functions or clincs in those days. My dad did drive me all the way to Melbourne especially to meet Gary Brice in a Clarendon St Chemist when polariod cameras first came out!

Which is fair enough in your case, but too many adults last night took up space in the que just to get an atuograph on a piece of paper which meant plenty of kids missed out because the players had to get away.

Another reason to make the autograph sessions a things for the kids when time is an (whether or not they are headed to the airport or not like they say). Sadly its hard to please all fans and if a better clear cut system was in place then at least people wouldn't get their hopes up then dashed like last night
