Is the new increased speed of the game causing increased injury?

With the AFL plugging in rules to "enhance" the speed of the game, the stats guys say the injuries (esp hammies) are up due to the extra forwards running back / forward.

So far we've had Davis out, and other teams that would be playing better now, had not more players out due to these kind of "excessive run-with-the-ball" injuries. It really doesn't look good at all.

As much of an *innumerous expletives* that Sam Newman is, he is right..

Reading through the innumerous commentaries, I agree that I can't see many Rob Harveys, Willo-type players, lasting as long as they have if the pace of the game through these rules stays like this.

I know this is hard for us to talk about, seeing they do call it the "anti-Swans" rule, but there is some sense in what coaches have been saying.

I say, GET RID OF THESE STUPID NEW RULES.

    What say you guys?

i reckon make it 10 minute quarters so the players dont hurt themselves and will still be able to go out for a beer without being too @@@@in tired.
