While I wasn't too excited about pursuing Curnow, now that it's done, I'm pretty happy, as long as he stays fit.

As for the players we lost, let's face it, we were never going to win a flag with Buller or even maybe Ollie and Will, who has gone missing in our last two GF's.

People have complained in the past about Horse having his favourites, implying he was persisting with mediocrity....well, Coxy's got ruthless to bring in an A grade talent. Time will tell if it's the right move but something had to change after the last two GF capitulations.

I for one am happy that it also puts the whole playing group on notice.....'don't get too comfy'.

PS: Hopefully Buller doesn't win a flag with Collingwood or I'll be eating my words!

Between matching bids from GC, Carlton and Brissy, we could see over 7 picks come out before our first pick

I’m happy with the deal- taking emotion out of it in losing Ollie and Wilbur, we gained a top forward in Charlie, which enables us to have a more flexible attack. It also means we can swing either Logan or Hayden down back to help out if needed. And of course I’m also happy with Jai Serong, who I think can develop, while sorry to lose Buller.

if we can obtain our Academy kids with our picks as planned and as set out by members above, I think we have done very well!

    2026: R2 pick, R3 pick (Carlton), R3 pick (Collingwood), R4 pick (Hawthorn).

I suspect we can trade back into rd 1 in 2026 and 2027 if we need to

    iF

A lot will depend on our ability to secure what we want with 2025s 31,32,42 which gives us plenty of choice ie 3 picks in 11 draft picks

The Swans have sent three first-round picks to Carlton (in 2025, 2026 and 2027) and Hayward to the Blues, who have given Sydney picks 31, 42 and a 2027 second-round pick to go with Curnow.

    Ok

    so

if we come top 4 in 2026 and 2027 our first rounds picks might not be far apart from Carlton who I think will be bottom 4 and especially now they have let Curnow go

carlton are in another rebuild and we are not

We and Geelong have not been that excited with first rounders in 2025,26,27 and the cats are masters of the trade

we obviously feel we are stacked with talent and ready to rock again into a window injuries permitted

we still have currency for value picks like we have achieved many a time with Parker, Reid, Chad, Goodes etc

and let’s be honest those value picks can emerge AFL ready ina few years from now - we don’t need them now or in the next few years to be AFL ready……let them develop over time like many a player needs to when aspiring to AFL level

    its a win win

    im happy

    2025: picks 31, 32, 42, 63. (1036 points).

bring on the draft and develop these picks for 3 to 4 years down the track so they can be up first round picks like we so often do

perfect balance between immediate gain and nurture talent into AFL ready while balancing the cap and future upgrades of serious players on the list
