Having watched Kyle in the Allies series I wasn't a fan and couldn't quite understand what the fuss was about, now knowing his background and how raw he is I definitely on board with giving him ago

Yes, it seems that our players are sliding a bit, in the views of draft pundits, possibly because they haven't been playing in the back end of the Talent League. I found it mildly amusing, that Carmichael had slipped out of the top forty in the latest ESPN rankings. So we have picks 30, 31, 42 & maybe 63 in the ND in under five weeks. I've crunched the scenarios, they'll likely be 27, 28, 38, 55 by the time they're needed which seems plenty of points to match bids on our academy players.
Harry Kyle being talked up as a late riser but I suspect King, Carmichael and Kyle may all attract bids within ten or so picks of each other. Let's wait and see what the next Twomey ratings say eh?

His history in these rankings, is something like this. He wasn't in their early rankings, despite playing very well for the academy. In July he came in at 22, after being the MVP for the Allies. He then dropped to 25 in August and 29 in September, despite showing that he was more comfortable at VFL level, than some of our already listed players. Now it's out of sight and out of mind. While I suspect that these rankings might be a touch inaccurate, if we do get Carmichael for a bid outside the top 40, then it will be almost as funny as picking up Errol at pick 32.👍 1Comment

Yes, I thought his disposal for the Allies, was a bit more miss than hit. So, I wasn't really rating him, though I was wondering if he was a late convert, as I couldn't recall him playing for the younger academy teams. Now that's been confirmed, I think he's worth a late pick or a rookie selection. If a bid comes in earlier than that, and one of King or Carmichael are still on the board, then I probably wouldn't be matching.👍 2Comment

We've ended up with a nice suite of picks for matching all our likely academy players.
Crunching scenarios, it's likely we'll be holding picks 28 & 29 as our first two picks when it gets to us potentially bidding.
Here's a tricky scenario - what happens if no one has bid on one of our academy players when pick 28 is on the clock?Comment

I suspect that we would trade down a few picks and try make pick 42 stronger. Probably easier said than done, however I am sure all these scenarios will have been planned forWe've ended up with a nice suite of picks for matching all our likely academy players.

I suspect BRS328 response above is most likely, however if there is a prominent slider whom the club rate highly they may give it serious consideration and risk missing out on one of the Academy boys. We've ended up with a nice suite of picks for matching all our likely academy players.

I am glad they are slipping. This means we pay less for them.
