Love his around the ground stuff though
He played 1 game for us from memory and seemed lost. We didn’t give him another look-in and thought we were well served in the ruck department, though I don’t know why! It was a bad mistake letting him go, in hindsight of course, but you would think that our coaches would have realised the talent that was obviously there!

it really bugs me when we release players who then perform very well for opposition clubs like Cameron and Nic Newman. Should never have happened!

I get what your saying but Naismith getting injured is what exposed us to losing Darcy. Granted he has turned out well but that's what happens.

Newman was let go due to multiple others playing his role.

That happens, been a bit leaner lately but we have done well previously thru poaching.

Back to Grundy, he is more than capable as our Ruck, just needs a bigger chop out from a bonafide ruck. Im hoping less is more with Grundy, because playing him the way they do he won't last, looked like an old man getting up off the ground last week

Coaches votes for the Hawthorn game.

        10 Will Day (HAW)
        7 Karl Amon (HAW)
        6 James Sicily (HAW)
        5 Sam Wicks (SYD)
        1 Nick Blakey (SYD)
        1 Chad Warner (SYD)

Seems fair enough. While I thought Wicks was very good, it's probably not a great sign, if your best player is a small defender.

And on Wicks: one of his plays made me think, that as well as a goal of the round and a mark of the round, there should be a defensive play of the round. If so, his effort to spoil Watson, then tackle the Hawthorn player who crumbed it, then after that player got a handball away, go again to drive Watson into ground, probably would've won it.

I’ve been a major critic but very happy for him if he can keep this up! Well done Sam, you had a great game.
Re: our team selection- we can’t run Grundy into the ground. He is our No 1 ruck but he needs either McLean or Ladhams to help out. Our selectors got it very wrong.
