Bit harsh on Sheldrick. I remember he got an extended run at in 2023 and looked the goods.

I understand his disposal is a bit iffy but he's the type of player I think we need at the moment.

Loose ball gets, clearance and Ruck support are our needs

Don't think we address any of that in selection

Still think we need Ladhams or another tall, Sheldrick just doesn’t seem to have what it takes played like he did in the 2s last slow, fumbly amd bad decision making think this could be his last contract with Sydney (fingers crossed he can find some form and confidence in the 2s)

Not sure if Hamling can ruck but he could possibly swap ends with McCartin if required, having played as a forward in the 2's last season with some success.

Sheldrick's omission seems ruthless, with the Match Committee possibly making statement his performance last week ain't going to cut it. Needs to really make most of his chances before the likes of Mills & Gulden return.

Pleased to see Bice given a chance, even though i thought Mitchell was next in line.

2 midfielders replaced with 2 defenders. I expect either Paton or Bice as sub. Would prefer Paton wear the green the vest but have feeling it will be Bice, as they did last week with Hanily to let debutantes dip their toes first.

I think Bice will come straight in and replace Florent as the rebounding defender, with Florent moving to a wing and Corey Warner starting as the sub. I think Jordon will play more on the centre, with Hanily starting. Paton is named in the starting 22 and thus won't be sub.

Good luck to the guys getting a game amd I get that Sheldrick wasn't great last week. But I do find the selection mix a bit odd in that Brisbane have a super deep midfield, and we've thinned ours out. It'll require Heeney, Jordon and Rowie to do a LOT of grunt work.

We need strength and contest around the ball, and I don't think the changes we have made give us that. Concerned about our lack of a second ruck too.
That said, I like the addition of Hamling which will give us options both forward and back, and I think Bice will be useful.

where he’s better suited as 2nd or 3rd defender amd ultimately in the 2s he’s a tryer at best

My big question is around Braeden Campbell and Sheldrick both high draft picks and have shown bits here and there BUT looking like they both may struggle

He is more than a tryer, probably the only guy in the team that is a genuine chance at a pack mark down the line

Gus disposal wasn't great but we need him to go in and stand over the ball and get it. It's all balance, no point having skilled players if we can't get hands on it. Last week showed that

Thought he was injured when he came off last week as he was actually starting to get his hands on it then was dragged He is still only 21.

‘he’s young that he is, having watched in the 2s it’s not just his poor disposal, it’s poor decision making he always looks rushed and unsure - which really showed last week, maybe a few months in the 2s to really work on his game but that’s last chance saloon I’d say this will be his last contract with Sydney

It’s agility and speed I reckon would hurt him but we should atleast try it in the 2s first you never know - I don’t think he’s much more than a tryer if you look at most sides say in the top 6 last year apart from us he wouldnt of got a game with any of them. I don’t dislike him but if we are to improve its players like McLean we need to upgrade on. For me Edwards and Snell hold the key to our defensive future I just hope they can get a injury free run at it
