Match Thread Match thread: Swans v Lions.

I'm not really sure why I'm starting the match day thread, as I plan to wait for the delayed tv coverage, and therefore won't even be looking at the thread.

But anyway. The Lions have a late out, with Charlie Cameron being replaced by Connor McKenna, who will start as their sub. Riley Bice is our sub. I'm not sure if I can really see us reversing our grand final humiliation, but stranger things have happened.

I'm not confident either, especially with our injury list but .......

    GO BLOODS!

How good is Juzzy’s little gag in the jumper presentation to Bice

Join us in the rooms as defender Riley Bice receives his debut guernsey ahead of the side's clash with Brisbane at the SCG in Round One of the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership season.

Great start indeed.....I tipped us to win, more hope than opinion but let's see how well the GF review went.

If we go on and win today, my confidence for the season will rise considerably.

I'm not confident, but this quarter was very enjoyable. Considering the change in positions and the injury toll, we're looking OK. It's a very hot day too- so good work swannies. McCartin looking promising in the forward line and Blakey looks like he's 'matured'..yes I said that! Maybe there's less pressure for him with the change of coach? But I like him playing far back.

Young Warner looking promising too. Where's Chad? Who's Chad? LOL

I think Brisbane seem a little too concerned with Heeney allowing others to make the play. And the kicking game is looking good too.

Listening on the radio but sounds like all 3 Brisbane goals from basic errors from defenders. We could 've almost had this game buried.

Glad the fringe players are putting the pressure on Brisbane players - sounds like they've come out with intent

It looks like the heat is getting to us. It is seriously hot today. Terrible day to play footy. It also explains the fumbles.

They got us a bit around the ball that quarter and we gifted them a couple of goals, but we’re otherwise playing with good intent and intensity. A bit to tidy up some promising stuff.

Is it slippery out there or just poor skills/overwhelmed? Sounds like we've dropped heaps of crucial marks but Lions from memory(im listening on the radio) haven't really dropped any

Easily left 5 goals on the table while giving them 3

Poor Ollie 2 shocking games in a row ! If we
lose he'd been down on himself

Is it me or is the forward line a problem still? Likely to be overrun now.

That gang tackle on Corey Warner was a bit nasty.
