He can’t kick that’s a massive downside to his game, 2 forward 50 entries no pressure both mis targets - he has to tidy that up

Probably the best team effort I have seen from the swans in a long time no reliance on the usual suspects- Cox has a big effect on our team defence and pressure this year. Now for a big test against Collingwood

This club really does a great job time after time. We have been competitive this year despite a shocking injury list that would decimate most teams. We've played with spirit and endless effort. Swannies are a great club. I'm proud to support them.

Really, really happy with that performance tonight. North were poor - especially defensively, but we made them look poor in many ways. We were efficient and generally effective with the ball in hand, kicked a lot more to advantage then we have been, and generally made good use of our chances when they arrived. Despite the protestations of the AFL news article ("Despite this, there was a constant feeling North Melbourne could be absolutely cutting when linking up through the corridor."), I thought we did very well defensively, and applied great pressure all night.

Much bigger tests to come, but was pleasantly surprised by that, as I had danger game written all over that. Rampe Mach II is going to be an absolute gun - love how Bice is so comfortable taking the game on already, uses the ball well, more then a decent defender. We've solved the Rampe replacement dilemma with that recruitment call.

Looking past the worst shot at goal you'll see all season, very pleased with Ladhams again too - did enough again to suggest the two rucks can work, although he might need to practice his set shots routine ha! Hanily continues to impress me - there is plenty to work there, and he will get an extended period with Paps out I expect to prove it. Cleary a welcome return too to seniors, definitely brought some good pressure.

Interested to see how little love lost there was for Kostanty - seemed to constantly be involved in scuffles etc all night long. Must be more to the story I suspect about his time at the Swans.

Bring on those pesky pies next week at the Adelaide Oval!

This is the difference between Braeden Campbell and Bice, the getting into space and having the composure to pick and kick perfectly. Hope Braeden can learn to be as composed as this man. That is one hell of a draft pick. I am sure Luke Parker himself will like what he sees in the number 26 jumper.
Bit harsh on Campbell. Has played a lot of his footy to this point in positions not suited too, and now seems to be getting a run in a role he is suited to, and improving rapidly. He will get there. Bice is doing very well indeed however.

To win a game that well with so many blokes out and Chad doing nothing, awesome. Norf were poor but four quarters of great footy.
Yes. Loved the pressure applied by Cleary and Campbell too.

I was pleasantly surprised with the change in game plan after half time. Cox made the game a high pressure, outnumber, kick to position, run the ball in waves game. Wow. He also changed the forward leading patterns and long bombing. In the first half we wasted far too much ball going forward. But in the third the players either kicked to advantage long to a lack, talks getting the ball to ground or a one on one target. The kicks to leads were also a wonderful highlight.

The hunt in packs, provide huge pressure af the call, get control, run jn waves. If you can't run in waves kick to position and wait until the forward line either provides the space for a lead or provides a one in one. Clever. Rhey couldn't withstand the pressure, not stop the run. They also couldn't intercept the beautiful passing. I thought our forwards wee smart tonight. They opened space, created one on ones, drew packs to the danger positions and brought the ball to ground. They worked extremely well together, that includes Pistol Pete. Other than the horrible punt he was bloody good. Love to see a 200cm bloke run around and sidestep a midfielder. Lol.

Our depth has improved incredibly. I thought Corey Warner has a bad night. He was good unril about half way through the third but drifted out of the game. We have Mitchell in the wings if he is considered to have been down on form.

A great win. By the way Bice is sensational. But the commentators calling him Miami Bice is Cringe worthy.

                    Spot on, Daisi!

Most clubs, if they had an injury list like ours, would be 0 - 4. We lost by just 20 pts to Hawthorn who are undefeated, nearly beat the reigning premiers who are also undefeated and have then had 2 strong wins on the road. Unfortunately, many of our injured stars aren't returning any time soon so it's still going to be difficult for us but we have been magnificent so far this season!

                    GO YOU MIGHTY BLOODS!

My mate in the bush reckoned Norf are such a formidable team now that they would blouse the Swans in this game.
Other pundits seem to agree. Parker would have had v high expectations. (Looked weird in a North junper).
Rubbish , i responded, Swans are on the cusp of a break out shellaccing.
So I’m looking forward to the phone call today.

The composure was coming. McCartin is such an iceman and an important calming influence.
Apparently every team could have drafted Mr Bice.
                      Well done Swans. More composure.
Looks like an accountant , but has a lefty footy skillset we dorely needed.
The were more relaxed at goal kicking - relaxed arms & hands .
Joel, Wilbur, Isaac , Braeden. Good, excellent.
Dean Cox is very composed as well, what a great bloke.

What a wonderful chilled night on the couch with Apple Pie & cream .
Thanks Swannies. You are so resilient.

[QUOTE=Daisi;n1247840]Well nobody replaces Errol...but Bice is great. His kicking is elite - another good recruit by our people. This has been a really good effort tonight by some unsung players. [/Q

I was upset when we let go Lukey Parker. Now that I found out we picked up Riley Bice(Miami) with that selection, I don't feel too bad.

Gerard Healy tipped North to win and said if the Swans win it will be like a 8 point game for them. I think we just won.

One bit of the ABC Radio coverage that made me laugh, went something like this.

Matt Clinch: That's probably an indication of what Dean Cox thinks of the state of the game. The Swans get the first goal of the last quarter and the night's over for Chad.

Chad Wingard: Yeah, great! See ya later, guys!

It was the first time that I'd heard Wingard commentate and I'm now hoping to hear him some more. He was funny, insightful and seems to have a good partnership with Bob Murphy; who's always been one of the game's deeper thinkers.

Well, Konstanty was also part of that trade. But we're probably still in front. My read on him when he played VFL, was that his defensive pressure was often really good, but he regularly missed the sort of goal scoring chances, that a quality small forward like Papley, would kick with his eyes closed. And if his time with us is any indication, he could be injury prone.

Going by the angry pills he was on last night, also potentially suspension-prone.
