Swans chat Team Selection for Round 7 v GC Suns.

Firstly, a positional selection.....McCartin back to defence and LEAVE HIM THERE. While I think KaneCornes can be very 'clickbaity' with his opinions, I 100% agree with him on this:

Last week I would have left Ladhams in the team to cover for Amartey but with Francis doing quite well when he came on, he gets another go I suppose.

I'll leave it up to others on who's in and who's dropped. I'd like to see Sheldrick come back in though, in place of maybe Corey or Hanily?

Francis has to get another game, did more in a qtr then what Tom Mc has done all year in his time as a fwd.

Didn't Cleary show signs last year as a small fwd ?

We need someone in their tackling.
Sometimes its better to play guys like that deep fwd or back instead of toward the middle of the ground.
When they play up the ground they get lost or are playing under too much restriction to actually have a crack at getting the ball. Corey is perfect example of this, runs lines and fills gaps, doesn't actually chase the ball.

If Logan was playing up the ground in the Ressies than he needs to be picked, keep him deeper if his fitness is an issue.

Was disappointed when they dropped Ladhams last week - he was playing well in the seniors and had a cracker in the ressies last week, he's just not a forward but really does make Grundy play much better.

Hanily and Hamling looking a bit average, Corey comes in and out of games. Frances gets another crack in the 22 as a starting forward.

      For me I'd have-

      In: Ladhams
      Out: Hamling

      Sub: Hanily/Corey Warner

There are a few people in the team at the moment that appear to be really unsure of about what role they are meant to be playing, and I think it is being reflected in the structural chaos we are seeing. Cleary is one, Bice at times I think is too much mixed into the midfield group (he looks very effective playing off the half back role, but a bit goose in headlights when he gets sucked into the midfield battle), Hamily, even Campbell and Warner too. A bit of a focus of getting back to basics positions wise could really help sharpen the focus. Cleary and/or Hamily to the forward line alone would help with pressure - given them a simple assignment and stick to it.

I think Francis has to be given at least a game or two to show whether the promise of the weekend was just circumstances, or whether he can be a solution up forward. As long as its not Tom Mac up there I'll be happy.

I'd be happy to give Buller a run in Seniors too - thought he was pretty good in reserves, and brings something a little different. I just don't think big Pete offers enough as a forward at AFL level, when we already have a ruck in Grundy that really doesn't offer much up there either. Absolutely can't deny however that Ladhams is playing well however and doing everything right at the moment.

I felt Sheldrick was pretty ordinary in the reserves game on the weekend - his form is poor and I don't think should be rewarded, especially when his seniors appearances so far this year have failed to convince.

Keeping it simple, I'd probably go Buller or McDonald In, Hamling out, with Francis into the starting 22, and maybe Corey Warner or Hanily to sub. Get T Mac down back, give Francis a crack up forward, and have a more general focus on putting round pegs in round holes, and getting back to basics.

It certainly won’t be Logan. He’s had a stress reaction in his ankle and will now be out for a new stretch. No timeline yet.

The year is generally looking like a write off.

If that means Tom Mc goes fwd, we deserve to lose

We just can't seem.to get a break with our injury list. Each week, it's either another out or setback.

I think the Tom Mac experiment up forward is over and they'll go with Aaron Francis for now. This would be a great tIme to give Jack Buller a go if his VFL form warrants.

Expect Lafhams to come back into the team with probably at the expense of Hamling.

Challenging times with our season approaching tipping point. A wim against GC is achievable. GO BLOODS!!!

I wouldn't say Buller's VFL form is outstanding, but its pretty decent and he is kicking goals. If we are going to keep gifting games to fringe players at senior level not really doing a whole lot, then he deserves a chance. He gives a slightly different option too to bringing back Ladhams for mine, and might help with a better mix in the forward line.

We have to win at least 1 of the next 2 or we are in a real poopy spot. GWS on form looks exceedingly hard, and Gold Coast have a good record against us - but they've come back off their early season form pretty quickly, so may not be as good as we thought they were to begin with.

Have you seen VFL but if Buller can't get a game atm I'm not sure why he is on the list

We saw plenty of evidence in pre-season videos from the club that the players were being hammered fitness wise.....does anyone believe this has lead to a disproportionate injury list?

I'm starting to think this might be the case, because I have never seen a season of constant injuries like this for our club, with so many from before round one with further additions since.

Hamling out; Buller or Ladhams in; McCartin defence; Francis to start forward; Hanily sub (or Sheldrick in and sub).

                          Go back to basics
Tom, Melican, florent, Blakey, Bice, Lloyd, Paton backline
Mclean, Buller, Francis, Cleary, wicks, Hayward, resting mid in forward line.
                          drop Hanily, Corey Warner, Hamling
                          in - Paton, Sheldrick, Buller

I would drop Hanily, Hambling and Warner and bring Buller Sheldrick and Shipley, who has been playing well in the VFL and deserves another chance.

Good luck bringing Shipley in, given he isn't on the AFL list.
