I like the notion of the mood barometer!
So what role does Goodsey play exactly?

I think it's pretty clear, just keep 'em guessing!
Goodesy is a pretty obedient kinda guy, so if you ask him to sit in a box, he'll go and do that all day.
If he's told to go and change the course of a game, then by golly go and stem the flow of opposition goals or go and kick a couple.
Had another great game, he won't win another Brownlow this year (Davey will) but he will make a more significant team contribution than 2003.The Pain of Discipline is Nothing Like The Pain of Disappointment -

His mark running back with the flight of the ball, where he literally stole it from the tiger, was superb and followed it up with a ~50m low flat kick pinpointed to a team mate on the wing.
That mark was great as was the one either just before or after it, can't remember which, just remember he took two good ones in a row.

My favourite player. He should be a captain of the club. Creative, damaging, talented on the field. Eloquent and insightful off it.He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

I think the reason he's so good is because of his ability to run. He is able to get to contests and make a target all over the ground. Sort of like Robert Harvey, but with extra height and a longer kick.
For this reason he's hard to match up on and so when he's on song, whether that's because he's in the mood or whatever reason, he can have big influence on the game.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

And I think this is how his game can vary significantly between being one of the best on the ground to being hopeless.
If he doesn't run hard and make space, then I find that his value to the team is only limited and intermittent. I don't think he makes an especially good key position player. It's just not his forte and he really doesn't stand out relative to other players in this role. Similarly he is not good at playing a defensive, accountable role.
So, I believe we get the best out of Goodes when he is given a free hand to roam across the ground and when he is in the mood to really do that properly, choosing when to drop back into a fixed position for a short period of time when he sees it is right to do so.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

our player empowerment plan has worked so much better than those of other clubs (particularly st blunder's) and as a consequence we have a massive vein of leadership lying around the pace.then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i knowComment
