I'm a bit surprised by the Rampe commentary. Ok, he's not quite what he was, particularly in playing on the biggest of boppers, and wasn't great last week (hardly on an island of his own there); but he's otherwise been sound defensively, had a few good games too, and underrated is how much he is in Tommy's ear all day keeping him calm and composed. And by the way, if we agree that we want Blakey to be released to play higher and with freedom, part of that involves keeping Rampe. Whatever our woes, and I get he can't go on forever, Rampe ain't top of the pops right now.
Ramps needs the veterans treatment, put Francis or Hamling back there with him.

Asking a 35yr old to be a key defender and then wonder why he looks like sh8t.
We may as well bring Mcveigh into the midfield

The positional sh8t these blokes dish up from match committee is staggering.

Previously I'd say Injuries were 80% of the issue but I now think it's 50/50 with stupid calls.
Id never put myself up against an AFL coach but I reckon it would be a laugh listening to some of the explanations in these match committee meetings.

P8ss Francis off down back too, that should give everyone the reality of the situation up fwd when we play Hamling and Francis fwd both should only ever be used as defenders and maybe they could allow are most dangerous player in Blakey to do another role. He would certainly have teams asking him if he wants to join them as a Midfielder.
No he has not. Hamling has been keeping his man out. Blocking etc. It hasn't worked. Time for a change. Both of them out. Buller in for his second game.

He has been playing next to a bloke with no intention of kicking a goal, all the defensive effort is into Mclean as he is the target.

You can't have a decoy in a sh8t F50 and then wonder why are only chance of kicking a goal isn't kicking a goal

Spot on ! We have become so negative, we seem intent on restricting the opposition rather than trying to win, we play 3 negative types and it’s certainly costing us I am hoping it’s only untill we get some players back as this can’t be the way forward

Wicks and Mills for Melican and McInerney obviously, but Ollie out for Mitchell.

Fair enough too. He was given a message the week before, did a good job as sub but then turned in that performance last weekend. One or two others might be lucky, but good on Cox for having the gumption to follow through with Ollie.

Given Hamling stays, I hope he plays down back to release Blakey and tend to one of their four talls.

For the love of God I hope Hamling is a late out

Doesnt have a role outside of the back 6
Beyond comprehension now, coaching get what they deserve if they play him fwd

Most of that gumption is in between his ears if he is picking Hamling

Francis must still be suffering from concussion symptoms. He did look pretty frazzled and low when he got hit the other week.

Seems our intent will be to try not to lose, then try to win with these selections - glad Mitchell gets one last crack and Ollie has been up and down his whole carreer sends the right message I reckon (Bice is very lucky he’s playing ordinary football )

So Ollie goes back to Ressies
Plays free in the Midfield for 100% of the time Collect 30 possessions, learns his llesson
                        Thenn comes back to seniors
                        Plays 0% in the midfield

Alot of lessons to be had there

Im hoping Cox is watching Dawson this week and a light bulb in his head goes off, sliding doors moment, when he looks at Blakey

Let’s hope Coxy decides to make some moves, like moving the Lizard to midfield, if not further up. He has come up with a good move on Wicks and has turned his career around. Ollie is a midfielder and certainly not a defender as was so clear last week. I don’t know where Wolfie got his stats on Lloyd but I can’t remember him doing anything with more than a handful of possessions. I felt we only had 3 players who deserved their paycheck: Heeney, the Chad and Grundy who tried all day though beaten. Pistol Pete was reasonably ok- the rest were VFL standard and I’m being kind!

Coxy and his assistants/ selectors: mistakes have been made and let’s hope they learn from them. As for tactics and strategy: we need another Don Pyke type to help us out. Surely there must be someone out there as it’s obvious we’re 1 assistant short at present.

Harsh on McCartin. Petty isn't the greatest forward in the competition, but McCartin still blanketed him. I think Petty scored one goal, despite the ball pretty much living all afternoon in the Melbourne forward line, and that was from a fairly soft (though technically there) free kick.

Conversely, a bit soft on Chad, given he's reportedly now our highest paid player. He went from chocolate to boiled lollies in a week. He found a bit of the ball but did he hit a single target all game? by foot or hand?

Fair enough Liz- I’ll include McCartin. He did cover Petty quite well but I expected him to hold the defence together a bit better, though in fairness the backline was well and truly under the pump most game. Chad was well down on his best but somehow still caught my eye, which I can’t say for so many of his teammates.

I was gutted by our display, especially as I don’t get the chance to go to games and confined to watch us on TV. But some of our games last year were so uplifting, I guess I can just watch them again and again!
