Originally posted by giant For goodness sakes, it's round 7 & we were barely present for the first 3 rounds. The only bloke who's come close to being decent to date has been Jude Bolton - most improved can wait till the 2nd half of the year when we've proved we're here to stay in 2006.
I agree, this week he wasn't a standout, but prior to that I think he's been our best midfielder by far.
Monty has carried on from the end of last year, LRT & Schneider too. Malceski has done very well but he wasn't really a part of the team in 2005.
Is this a "Most Improved" thread, or is it a "lets talk about our really good players who are now playing really good again after a slow start to the year" thread?
People like LRT, Goodes, etc are ALREADY great players, and were great last year, so as a % difference i dont think you can say that these kind of players are the MOST improved.
Lets keep it focused people
If the siren sounds in Tasmania, and the umpires don't hear it, does it make a sound?

I can't agree that LRT had reached the status of anything near a "great" player either last year or this!

Goodes is hitting his head on the ceiling of greatness, LRT is jumping but can't quite reach it even with his long arms..

Yeah, I'm afraid I'll never match your very impressive 3 posts/day. You'll just have to take solace in the fact that I won't burden you too often with my mediocrity.
Back on topic, can someone like Malceski be 'most improved' when he hardly played last year? ie does he have a definitive base level of performance upon which he is improving??

If he played last year (5 games), he has a base level.
Originally posted by australian_made Yeah, if he was great he would have picked up that Norm Smith last year.... and he would have kept Richo markless for the ENTIRE game on the weekend
He is very good in marking contests now. But Richo still made him look ordinary when the ball hit the ground....that's the next stage of development.
