Some kudos to the curators, the ground held up really well.

Freo looked dangerous and easily equipped to
come out on top . The Swans Defence Dept was determined
that wasnt going to happen. A shame
Tom McC was crook last week .

Those protected zone free kicks are so
pathetic , who came w that rule ?

Play enough talls around him and Hayward plays well, its the same with Blakey in defence

Did love Wicks game, took it on and in heavy traffic, not the usual Backman that runs unopposed out of defence, he was under fire all day. I hope he gets rewarded in our F&B, thats from his biggest critic last year

        D’oh! Knew I forgot someone.

Hayward was excellent wasn’t he. Just relentless. I think he was actually the third defensive role we had, on Ryan. The one thing all three - JJ, Campbell and Wilbur - did was found a way to stay involved offensively at the right time. Not high possies, but critical moments.

I think where we have improved is: a reversal of our centre clearance work, contested possessions all over the ground, players around the ball when it hits the ground. We look a lot quicker all of a sudden and rock hard tackling.
          What a difference Gulden makes.
With Rowy: it maybe that since Gulden and Papley came back he hasn't been involved in as many centre bounces. He still had 6 tackles and may have been running with a Freo player.
Watching on TV it appeared Hayward had his usual average game but he had 8 tackles which has to be a career high. So he gets a big tick this week.
Interesting that Isaac didn't go forward much.
Also McInerney has played a lot better since Errol came back. He hasn't made his usual brain fades.
Treacy was dangerous early but Tom Mc got right on top. Playing great footy.
Grundy is a star who brings the likes of Chad and Errol into the game.
On Errol: just a fantastic footballer who has it all. Appeared to be at almost all contests in the last quarter. Just willed himself on the game.
It appears JJ has the Brett Kirk method written all over his work. Great game.

We’re back guys! At last everybody contributed and we lead all day. What was very heartening for me- when challenged in the last quarter and only 1 point in front, we rallied and showed the true Bloods spirit. So good to rediscover it!

We should also include Hamling in that comment. He was good all day in defence but was particularly effective in the last quarter

It could only be that dodo Longmuir who gave three votes to Ryan. There's no way Cox would have felt threatened by someone who had 20 possies, six of which were kick ins, gained all of 200m and seven marks - half of which were sideways chip kicks.

My guess is it was Brodie and JJ 5 and 4 each obviously, then Cox gave Chad 3, McLean 2 and Bolton 1, and dopey gave Ryan 3, McInerney 2 and McLean 1.

While I don't begrudge Freo getting a few votes in a close game, I did look up the stat sheet after I posted the votes, just to see if Ryan perhaps had a better game than I thought he did.

I, too, was surprised at Ryan getting votes. There were a few Dockers I'd have had well ahead of him. Indeed, I struggle to even recall him playing (in a sense; I know he did play).

I didn’t think Bolton was particularly good either. In fact, zero impact on the game and a poor game stats-wise. If impact is important then Hayward was far more deserving. He really made a difference.
My opinion is objective truth in its purest form
