I travelled up from Lennox Head to watch this live as I thought it’d be worth watching but this is something else. The power, speed and brutality of the GC is great to watch. They are bullying Collingwood at the contest, spread with real leg speed and set up brilliantly behind the ball.

The only depressing part of it is what it suggests up against for the next five or so years.

I do love watching Rowell around the contests. Total hard nut.

Yes, and Humphrey. The Swans had Humphrey at no1 on their draft board in 2022 and you can see why.

Collingwood kicked their first goal with 9 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. They just kicked another. Amazingly, they are not out of this!

.....and now another. Worrying signs for the Suns.

              Pies back within 10 points!

Make that 3points now. And doing pretty well with the umpires, too.

              Now, they're in front.

              Now they're not!

Suns are now being the Suns of old......collapsing. If they go on and still win tonight, it will be a miracle.

Somehow the Suns got the lead back and then hung on......great win! Seriously, considering the overall game, they deserved to win.

So nice when a much vaunted Collingwood comeback fails.

Great win by the Suns. This is the first time Gold Coast has beaten a team on top of the ladder.

Just looking at the stats for Matt Rowell. BOG for clearances, tackles, and distance run. Second for contested possessions and third for metres gained.

Yes, if the Pies had got over the line we'd be hearing the "we train for these" narrative.

When each side plays a great half, the outcome is essentially a coin flip. A great game to watch though and good on the Suns for toughing it out for the win.

Yes, the commentators talking up a Collingwood comeback, long before it started, was driving me a bit crazy. And about the same time, they were also pumping up Nick Daicos at every opportunity, even when Matt Rowell was playing a huge game: while often directly opposed to Nick Daicos.

And even though expressed a bit of grudging admiration for the travelling Collingwood fans, I did enjoy the idea that most of them probably would have thought that victory was inevitable, when they got in front late, only for them to leave disappointed, after that victory was snatched away.
