Won’t be surprised if Norf win this. That was dreadful.

Job done in the end. Heeney on a different level compared to everyone else on the field - sensational game.
Need to play a lot better next week against the Giants, but a win is a win. And only a win behind the Fairypuppies - we won't make finals, but would like to finish in front of them if nothing else."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Run home, games against top 10 teams in bold:
Adelaide (17 played, 12 wins): Suns, Port, Hawthorn, Eagles, Collingwood, North.
Hawthorn (18, 12): Carlton, Crows, Collingwood, Melbourne, Brisbane.
Giants (18, 12): Sydney, Bulldogs, North, Suns, St Kilda.
Suns (16, 11): Crows, Brisbane, Richmond, Carlton, Giants, Essendon, Port.
Geelong (17, 11): St Kilda, North, Port, Essendon, Sydney, Richmond.
Fremantle (17, 11): Collingwood, Eagles, Carlton, Port, Brisbane, Bulldogs.
Bulldogs (18, 10): Essendon, Giants, Melbourne, Eagles, Fremantle.
Sydney (18, 9): Giants, Essendon, Brisbane, Geelong, Eagles.
I have excluded Collingwood and Brisbane because their ladder positions are fairly secure.
This shows how every team from third to tenth has opportunities to lose games against other contending teams. Geelong's run is the easiest. Hawthorn and Fremantle play both of the top two teams plus another contender. No team plays more than three contenders. 14 wins will be needed for a top 8 finish. It is likely that a good percentage will be needed.
Sydney will need to win all five games and hope for favourable results in other games."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

Don’t know what else to say about Isaac. Just elite at everything he does. Contested ball, distribution, marking, goal kicking, score involvements, on and on it went. It was an ordinary game to watch but we really saw something special from him. He just glides over the ground. Norf tried to put Luke Parker on him and bring Dylan Stephens in as extra cover knowing Luke probably can’t cover Isaac’s initial burst at stoppages these days, and it made no difference. His five goal games in recent weeks are licks of the ice cream he deserved for holding his standards in our down patch early in the year.
But above all, it’s how he does it. So smooth and clean. Michael O’Loughlin had a different set of tricks, but it’s become as enjoyable to watch Issac as it was to watch Micky O. And I say that as someone who thinks we had a few better players than Micky (not many but a few) but he’s just about my favourite Swan ever for making me smile when watching footy.
Anyway, well done too to Wicks for completely smothering Curtis. Grundy, Warner and McInerney good too. Our defenders generally handled everything that came their way and Buller had a few good moments. I hope we give him another year.
We will obviously need to be a lot better against the Giants next week, but it was good to continue to drain hope from those pathetic Norf supporters. They deserve decades of misery for what they did to Goodes in the final minute of that 2015 final. Scum.Comment

The two good things to come out of this season is
Wicks really settling as an above average small defender. He is now not doing unnecessary stupid acts and giving his best in defense. Absolutely an elite season to watch in the next season.
Sheldrick getting a long run in the midfield. Even though not amazing he is improving.
I reckon presence of Gulden in the midfield and the countless acts he does in defense and offence even when he doesn’t get the ball just creates space for so many players.
and Cunningham in the defence. He just positions himself so well that there is always a good presence behind the ball.
I wish Mills would stop doing silly errors.
Heeney was amazing this game and presence of Gulden is helping him get free. Mcinerney is the other one who I think is doing a lot right in the last couple of games.Comment

North Melbourne's last 5 completed seasons (2020-2024): two wooden spoons, did not finish higher than 17th. Will they match their worst streak of mediocrity?
