Team List Team Selection: Round 21 v Essendon

With our finals aspirations now put to rest, hoping selectors will use the final four weeks to try out players like Dattoli, Snell & even Green, plus giving players knocking on the door like Cleary. Co Warner and Florent another go.

With McCartin a test to return this week, not sure if it's worth risking him and whether it will be more beneficial in the longer term to rest him for remainder of the season? Trust the club medicos will make the right call.

With having to make at least 2 changes due to injury and concussion with Hamling and McLean respectively, i have following in mind (not risking McCartin):

    OUT:
    Hamling, McLean, Roberts, Lloyd

    IN:
    Snell, Green/Ladham, Florent, Dattoli

Francis remains to give height in the backline with Melican, but could mount case to also replace him with Cleary, as extra tall may not be necessary against the injury ravaged Bombers. Nate Caddy being there danger forward.

    JJ on Meritt you'd think?

    Sub: Dattoli

Sounds like conditions will be wet (and maybe wild). Not sure if that will play into selection.

Looks a good side on paper, got the changes I wanted, Dattoli to start, Ladhams & Cleary who have had big weeks in the VFL are in. Looking forward to the game.

Major bummer seeing Wilbur out. He’s had a good stretch.

Good on Datolli, looks like Ollie for Roberts for me (who’s been average) and hope Cleary plays as part of the midfield mix.

Yes, I was also pleased that Dattoli appears to be starting and won't be debuting as a sub. In the VFL, I've become increasingly confident that something good will happen, if the ball is kicked in his general direction.

Yeah, don't know what's wrong with Hayward, as I don't think he was on the most recent injury list. And I also want Cleary to be given a chance to play his natural game, as an inside midfielder.

With Hayward out, it would be madness not to play Datolli as a like-for-like replacement for Hayward.

I've caught bits of the VFL games in the past few weeks, and I've seen enough of Datolli's making things happen that I'm really looking forward to seeing how he goes this week.

However, I'm not expecting a lot due to the atrocious weather forecast for Saturday (10 to 45 mm of rain, with a possible thunderstorm). If Datolli kicks two goals, that would be a very good effort for a first-gamer in a wet-weather game.

Hope Dattoli isn't the sub and Cleary can play inside mid.

                    Hope Ollie is the sub.

'I couldn't believe it': The news that's made Gulden's milestone extra special (afl.com.au): Errol's grandfather will be watching him play at the ground for the first time. (I'm not a fan of clickbait headlines.)
