Swans 25 year black tie dinner postponed till next year

Put the party frocks and penguin suits on hold - its been postponed til next year. Have a look at the Swans website.

So the School night of June 15 will remain just that - a school night.

Although how you can postpone an event "for all the right reasons" is a bit of a mystery.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Maybe because it's only been 24 years.

Will that make it a 26 year dinner? Really, if its not gonna happen this year, why bother?

I've been saying that for ages, I'm glad someone agrees with me. I've been driving Wardy mad going on and on about it (I am a woman after all and we do going on and on well!).
I accept it is 25 since they moved up here but they haven't had 25 years up here until next year.
A child doesn't celebrate its 1st birthday until a year has been completed and the Swans won't celebrate their 25th anniversary until next year.

I won't be going as I've been to 2 Swans dos and they stuffed up on both of them and didn't respond to my written complaints on either. I did still enjoy the team of the century do though despite the stuff ups.
                Bring it on!

Yes it is 25 years since coming to Sydney but they were advertising as "25 years IN sydney" (my emphasis) and not 25 since arriving in Sydney.
Bit like the millenium argument this one (I still think they celebrated that a year early).

Aussie Ange will agree with you - she considers that it should be next year too - but anyhoo - the thing is I reckon a heap of peeps complained that it is on a school night and for $250 you cant drink your $150 dollars worth of grog comfortably on a school night especially if you have to front up to work and be able to speak english the next day. Please note I have subtracted $100 to cover the meal.

Another theory is that they stuffed up the booking and over subscribed the event again and didnt want a repeat of what happened to some of the members (ie me, ORB, Go Swannies, Bam Bam & Js) at last years B & F dinner.

Anyhow - gives the gals another year to save up for the posh frock.

Whatever the reason, I think it is a very poor effort from the club. Tickets have been bought and paid for, dresses are being made, some people have flights booked already. The tickets went on sale just three weeks ago: surely they could have known then that it was not going to be on this year, and stopped the wheels going into motion!

Bugger. Will have to cancel the frock, then.

I did the same thing AussieAnge and Moo (tend to be agreeing with you alot today) I counted next year as us having officially been up here for 25 years.

Same as the birthday. I'm in my 37th (OMG I said it aloud) but if asked I'm 36 until December

                            An explanation

*edit* I still fail to understand why this wasn't evident a month ago, before tickets went on sale!

                              Embarassing!

A similar situation is happening in the NRL. The Roosters will be celebrating their 100th season next year but the NRL is holding off on centenary celebrations until 2008.
