    Swans chat 2026 Preseason

Thought to start this thread after reading article and watching video on the club website, where Papley, Logan, Armatey & Will Edwards are receiving specialised resilence training by world class expert Blill Knowles, to help them with injury prevention and build their core strength ahead of preseason training proper.

Video is comprehensive and i found it interesting watching their exercise drills to help improve their bio mechanics in areas of weakness due to their recent injuries. This is the first video in a series. Good move by the club, after receiving recommendation from former Swan Daniel Menzel.

World class reconditioning specialist Bill Knowles has spent a fortnight at Sydney Swans HQ working with four players to build physical resilience, focus on injury prevention and to ready them for the 2026 AFL season

First day of training yesterday for the year 1-4 players. two km time trial won by Cleary from Corey Warner and Bice.

Seniors to appear at training early from holidays were Curnow, Amartey, McLean, McInerney and Serong.

Cox is in the US? Laidler took training, Murdoch press said 'Laidler had a big influence on the GWS forward group last season'

Watching the latest video on preseason training from yesterday (Friday 14/11), noticed Rosas was present along with Serong (again). But didn't see Curnow. Good to see Malceski involved. Mills was present but only as a happy observer it seemed?

Of the 4 players who received the special 2 weeks resilence training with Bill Knolwes, all were present except for Papley.

My understanding is Cox was scheduled to be away OS on some sort of coaching development course, between the trade period and the draft. So expect to see him back next week.

P.S. Forgot to mention Gulden and Heeney also participated in training yesterday.

Chad named in WA Origin team yesterday. AFL announcing a player each day for both teams. Expect Chad to be our only WA rep, along with Cox as coach.

Grundy may get a call up in the Vic team. Charlie might be an outside chance. Don't think we have any other players who would qualilfy or in the mix, including Papley with his recent form.

Our remaining best players are all Academy products (Heeney, Gulden, Mills and Blakey).

Oh yes of course!!!!!! I've forgotten about that. My bad. Thanks for pulling me up on that (red face).

I now recall Port were also trying to lure him from Melbourne using the go home factor.

So Chad and at a stretch Curnow, are the only Swans likely to be inviolved in the Vic v WA origin game in Feb.

And perhaps this is one of the reasons that the selfish clubs in Victoria don’t like the academy’s, it’s making it more difficult for them to raid the northern states clubs with more and more home grown talent

Does anyone know what peak performance feedback system we use at the Swans?

does every player in the squad receive weekly post game feedback ?
                    • 360-degree feedback: Some clubs incorporate a "360-degree feedback" system, where players receive input not only from coaches but also from their teammates, which can be confrontational but is considered crucial for development.

Mills + hamstring injury. No more serious training before Xmas. I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaally hope his luck turns, as he's essential for us to get going again.

Time to take the captaincy off Mills let him focus on getting his body right. If gets back to ripping form he can be considered for the captaincy next year.

It seems that everyone is stressing "minor", so hopefully it is a minor blip. I was nearly going to post after the interview with Mills earlier in the week, that I couldn't recall seeing him so relaxed and optimistic. But I thought I might be jinxing things in some way.

Which is a slightly unusual position for an atheist. In that, I can't quite shake the belief, that public expressions of confidence, will be rapidly followed by some sort of negative consequences. And I still squirm when I hear a commentator say, "He's twenty metres out and directly in front: he can't possibly miss this!" And there's also a part of me, that believes that shouting "ball" at the TV is somehow helpful.

                              Go figure.
