Agree Logan looked like a calf or heel… hopefully not a reoccurrence of last years issues.

Best case is that Errol was precautionary (hopefully) till scans confirm tomorrow

Issac with no ice, also hoping tweak only

    Thursday is not far away.

Corey, McLean, Cleary and Adam’s on standby …

They said hamstring tightness for Heeney. When Errol walked around the boundary he let his arm hang loose and moved it. Maybe he just had a stinger and his arm in a sling was just a standard procedure. I suspect he will play next week. Pretty sure Logan played out the game. It looked to me that may have slightly twisted his ankle.

Injuries will be interesting - will test our lack of depth

Chad did not seem to be his effervescent self tonight. Had a black arm band on but more comcerning is the fact that he was doubled up a at times during the night like he was struggling for breath, Hope he is ok.
The lions clung to Charlie like bees in a honey pot ad he did not have many chances where as they left Joel alone. TOnights games tells me that unless its Ladhams (who is shocking in his kicking) or Hayden (who I think is our best back up to Brodie, He can ruck some minutes giving brodie a break, like the time Brody was copped by that snipper Cameron and can kick gaola and mark up forward and is probably a better allround shot for Goal than Joel who certainly aint not back up ruck. Roberts does not pick up his mand nor does Jake L. Too often they were both metres away from their opponents particularly in the third and final qrts, They we ol when we we well in front and could run in front of the ball but this won't happen regularly we were too loose in quarters 3 and 4.
also did the reserves play a practice game against the giants and is o who played and who can replave Errol and perhaps Issac. Could Kyle replace Errol.

Two blokes had their best games for the club last night: Amartey and Bice. I know Joel kicked nine in one a couple of years ago but he the way he was moving, jumping, marking and even tackling was so impressive. And Bice’s run and carry was just brilliant.

I’m less bothered by the second half. We kicked inaccurately and could have easily piled on another four or five goals, and whilst Brisbane played keeping off for the third quarter, they never took the ball anywhere which suggests our defence down the ground was in order.

I’d probably give Lizard three votes, with McCartin, Joel and Bice not far behind. The other shout out is Gus. His disposal was a bit tidier but the main thing he’s improved this year is his ability to run. He’s covering the ground so much better.

And good to see the captain winding his way back into good form.

That was a significant win as it put us 8 points clear of Brisbane who will bounce back.

With such a good start to the season and only a 5 day break, can't see the club risking both Heeney & Gulden against the Hawks , even if optimistically their injuries are on the minor end. Need to play the long game, it's only March.

After the Hawks, we have a bye and then away against the WC. A handy break for both, particularly Gulden and pethaps also for Logan with his lower leg (saw him in the rooms chatting with Cox post game).

I.did take heart from Cox's presser that he new game plan is more about system than personnel. With this in mind, Thursday's game against the Hawks is another opportunity to put 8 points on another finals contender and put to test this system without super stars Heeney & Gulden.

The backline played well- McCartin and Bice and of course the Lizard. I thought Wicks was our least effective but in fairness he had Cameron who is a very difficult opponent. Lloyd’s spot is up for grabs, surely.

I forgot to mention that it seems like Serong was left on the bench for fair while or I did not notice him euntil after half time. Was he also carrying some niggle or were we leaving him to next week.

I was going to say much the same thing. Even though Amartey did kick nine, in that game he was generally matched up against Keane, who at the time, looked like a tourist roaming around the city at night, a bit dazzled by the bright lights and not really remembering the directions that he was given. I suspect that Amartey has had a very good preseason, so he's able to get to more contests and has more confidence in a positive outcome once he's there. He's certainly crashing more packs and leading with greater purpose. His defensive efforts have also been useful.

I think Bice might be doing the old Jake Lloyd role, of running tirelessly in the defensive half, to be a handball receive option whenever his fellow defenders have the ball. Except that he might be doing it with a bit more pace. And his defensive pressure was also very good.

I thought the defence was very good all round. I don't think any Brisbane player won their position, while our rebounding at pace was a pleasure to watch, even if it did look very improvised at times. Which isn't a bad thing, because the more the team attempts and the more that they experiment, the more likely they are to improve their rebounding flair. Perhaps it's largely a matter of having plenty of bodies running at pace to provide options and to take those options quickly.

I thought Mills was excellent at taking options last night. He had plenty of incisive possessions, that really got the ball moving quickly. McCartin was probably more aggressive in his ball movement than usual, and he certainly had plenty of it, thanks to his quality intercepting and strong spoiling. Blakey was also brilliant. He's going to drive many opponents insane this year, with his rebounding at lightning pace and his bullet passes.

While I was a bit worried by how Brisbane dominated clearances in the second half, I also wasn't all that worried when they were playing keepings off. That slow ball movement just seemed to be running the clock down on themselves. All we really needed to do to finish off the game, was to punish them on the counter-attack a few times. Which eventually happened, despite our second half inaccuracy in front of goals.

Other players worth mentioning are: Heeney, who was all class in the forward half; McInerney, who used the ball really well, and Rowbottom, who was a wrecking ball at times, and who might be suited by our new willingness to just tap the ball on, if a clean possession isn't the most attacking option.

Hawthorn might be a challenge, with a short turnaround and a few injury concerns, but we should be up for it. Then it's a bye and then West Coast. Their match against the Suns this afternoon, should give us an indication if they've improved at all, or whether racking up 200 points is a realistic option?

I suspect match ups neutralised in this game against a gun team
