We're Premiers but they still put Collingwood on the tele

Very disappointed that the Swans aren't on free to air Melbourne TV this weekend.
Channel 10 have decided to play the local game instead one from interstate.
At least we are on ABC Radio, last year we had a few Saturday nights with no TV or radio.

    It makes sense.

Collingwood have a much larger Melbourne supporter-base, and they are playing good football. Geelong are still looking ok, and are a genuine top-8 contender. They'll get more viewers showing this game.

Nah, I've just developed a stronger love for the game rather than my team specifically. Geelong/Pies will be a good match, and I look forward to watching the replay on FF.

Yeah it sucks, but it does make sense. Anyone want to record it on Foxtel and send me a copy?

Eirenn is right. And it should be a good game too.

Although it's arguable our game should be better. However, it wouldn't draw anywhere near the number of viewers.

It's on Fox Footy Channel though - I think it's the first time they've had a Swans game live.

Of course that comes from someone who is not in Victoria and will see the game either live or on tv

What has that got to do with anything? Pies/Cat will be a good game and there is a bigger audience.

Besides, as a footy fan in NSW, I am well used to missing things! I like to watch games other than the Swans, and they aren't often on. I had to wait til after 10:30pm last week for Pies/WC on Fox Footy, which was arguably the game of the round and one in which I had great interest.

I agree it is stupid, but it has been a trend of 10 for the last few years to show the Melbourne based game instead of the interstate one, and wasn't unexpected.

I guess I am used to it happening when we play another interstate game but didn't expect it when we played a Melb team.

So we're playing a Melbourne team. Does every Melbourne-based team get live coverage everywhere they play?
                      No.

I fail to see how this is a travesty.

                      Solution: Foxtel.
If you don't have it, then visit your local. I know for a fact there's more than one in Geelong.

Alternatively, you could voice your disapproval here.

Would have thought they would choose the Swans game to show in Melb, purely as showing the other game would take away from the attendance (ie people watch it on tv rather than at the ground)

                          I don't think they're showing it live - 30 min delay.

There are probably as many Collingwood fans in Melbourne as Swans and Bulldogs combined.

Come down and watch it with me - I'll only be watching it on my own ... and I haven't the connections yet to copy from the IQ "tape" to my PC

Could get worse for Melbourne next year, heard a little whisper from a friend that 7 were thinking about negotiating a deal where the Swans would play at 2pm on Sunday's, be the Foxtel game for the rest of the country, but live into Sydney on 7, while Foxtel would show Sydney the 1 and 4pm games that 7 would typically show.

                              Who knows though!
