Team List Team Selection: R6 v GWS @ SCG

Interesting selection surrounding Hamling v Melican. Hamling was sound and appeared to have performed his role on Ben King. Melican was a surprise omission. Horses for courses selection?

Sheldrick will be available after serving his suspension. Co Warner might be most under the gun. Thought Harry was good and Lloyd has shown at times, as the other possibilities to make way.

Maclean may come into consideration for one of the tall forwards and give Grundy bit more ruck relief?

    At least one change:
    IN: Sheldrick
    OUT: Co Warner

Agree with Sheldrick for Corey Warner.
Hamling as good as Melican if not better. So no problems there.

I think settle the team for the next 2 weeks and experiment afterwards unless injury.
Hopefully Gulden back by the time next big difficult set of weeks come in Round 16.

The only observation is that we are running frantically in both offence and defence. We will need to preserve the legs of some of our midfielders in a few weeks and Grundy.
I think it's "No Grundy No Flag for us". He is doing an amazing job. So maybe we will have to look at his workload after these 2 weeks and get a second ruck to do more work.

      Datolli for Lloyd "Resting"
      Ladhams for Harry "Resting"
      Melican for Hamling
      Gus for Co Warner

Sheldrick will happen, they might play Hamling and Melican for GWS.

Love Harry and Lloyd but would hate Jesse to seek a trade end of year for a 3rd rounder

They won't drop Cunningham because he brings versatility in the roles he can play. Datoli has started the season well in reserves, but not absolutely banging the door down, which is what he will need to do most likely to get an opportunity.

It'll be Gus for Warner and that's it I reckon.

Yep, I'd certainly leave Cunningham in, largely to play a defensive forward half role on either Ash or Whitfield. Corey might even hold his place, if it's decided that Cunningham needs a hand. Though I suspect that Sheldrick comes back for him, just for a bit more depth around the midfield contests: even if we did do well without him last week.

I agree that is what will happen
I aslo agree, Harry and Lloyd given enough games are capable of holding their spot.

Brissy just won a flag with something like 7 players under 22, sure there are others that can play a role, but you get better with players that have growth in them

Roberts, Sheldrick, Bice, Serong....they were all behind Harry and Lloyd not long ago in terms of the 22. Now no-one is dropping any for either

coaches for reserves v Pot Melbourne supports my belief that Snell needs to be given a game to see if he is up to it. It also supports my beleif that Hayden must be promoted to give Brodxie some assistance and give him some break otherwise we will wear him our and without him playing most of the game we wont win a premiership. Hamling and Ladhams are not in our BEST team.

Why would you rest players when you came off a bye 2 weeks ago. Get the wins on the board early. The team is still learning to play together under the new Cox system. Despite the poor kicking for goal the forward line is starting to work well with spread and fast movement.
In my opinion you bring in the younger players once they have shown consistency at VFL level unless you are forced to because of injury

Resting was a nice way to put it

Datolli is a 1st Rd thoroughbred, leave him in the 2s he will never be a stud just another Konstanty

Nice problem not to have but I wonder who would have gone out for Braeden Campbell in this team. I think He would have thrived in this style of playing. Maybe Jake Lloyd. But maybe he would have struggled to come into the team

It’ll be Gus for Corey, and I suspect that’s it.

As for Datolli, I want him in the team come the second half of the year. He’s going to be a gun. But I don’t mind giving him a few more games in the ressies and a bigger training block to harden his body. He’s still young and clearly developing physically. Once he’s in, you want him to be able to stay in and really impact.

Corey had 42% TOG last game. 6 disposals for 1 goal. Gus has around 20-25 disposals a game so purely on numbers he comes in.

42%, Perfect for a backup Ruckman leaving 3 talls fwd with Rosas and Paps at their feet and our mids going fwd
