    Watch the hand

A few weeks ago a journalist said that the media would love Aker in Sydney so they finally had a Swans player who would actually say something - rather than resorting to "teamspeak" (my word, not his).

This week we have Kirk and Roos saying how they plan to shut down the Doggies so expect a dour affair. What are the chances that they'd be so forthright on the team plan?

If you should expect the opposite, it'll be interesting to see if the Swans decide to come out with a fast, free flowing first quarter to blow the Dogs away. That'd be a challenge - but great to watch.

But with the Swans saying "don't expect a big score" isn't it fair to expect the opposite?

Nope, the Swans will bore the Dogs into submission. Other than the fact that Rodney might pop a vein, I'm glad the Pies v Cats game is going to be on tele. Tonight, at the SCG, you will enjoy a display of football at its ugliest.

Sadly not. Just too much on this week end. 5 games a year on a country membership and we have already used 2.

Maybe it's the old doublespeak reversal. We say we will be dour. So we think that they think that we are tricking them so we will play open. They think that we think that they think that we think we are tricking them and playing open, so we think that they know that we know what they think hence we will really play dour while they think we are playing open because we have actually said we are playing dour.

Yep, it's the influence of reading about Hitler and Mussolini intensely for a few months!

I felt as though I was channelling Maxwell Smart, but I did lose track part way through.

Why? Were you born in 1984?
