At least the Blues fans don’t have to worry about choking on a half time lead this week
True. Although that takes some of the fun out of it for those of us who like to see them have a sniff and then capitulate. Still happy to see them be outscored in the second half, though!
Perhaps the message has been received? Carlton winning the third quarter so far. Still five goals down but they might end up winning a second half.
Not only are they winning the second half - so far - but they're actually close enough to be considered a chance of getting the four points! Will they be blown away in the last quarter?
Carlton played well in the second half, well enough that it is the first time they've won a second half this year. Too bad for them that their first half was not good.
Other first halves they've lost this year: Adelaide 8.6 to 12.6 (lost second half by 4 and game by 28), Fremantle 6.5 to 8.4 (lost second half by 3 and game by 14).
If they could manage to put in a four-quarter effort, they would cause trouble for a lot of teams.
"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi final
Wanganeen-Milera a late out for St Kilda, with the reason given that he's being managed. With Australians being constantly bombarded by sports betting ads, there's probably plenty of people who bet on the game and a reasonably sizable subset who took St Kilda at the odds. Since I'm not aware of any talk that he was doubtful, I suspect that most of that subset would now be really pissed off.
AFL site reporting that Voss has resigned as Carlton coach. I suspect that a fair few of their fans will be happy with that announcement. It'll be interesting to see if they improve at all.

I wouldn't want to be the team playing Carlton this week, the Western Bulldogs. Sacked coach bounce is a possibility. The Carlton players might figure out that they can play well in both halves in the same game and win comfortably.

Strange timing, after their best game in some time despite the loss. I thought it might happen mid-season. The pressure has been immense though - only added to by the Hollands incident I think. Perhaps he's just reached his limit, and fair enough.
I have a little Carlton chart that I update from time to time and it always suggests that Ratten was removed prematurely.
Brett Ratten's removal as coach was emblematic of what an idiotic club this has been. The biggest problem Carlton has is like Essendon, they're the last of the dinosaurs - big Melb clubs that refused to change and professionalise. Richmond did it in 2010, and got the rewards; Eddie (who I hate) did it at the Pies; Hawthorn did it 20 years ago; Melbourne has even done it.
Instead, it's a club ruled by cotterie clubs and factions, and you'd have no confidence as an incoming coach anything will change.
