Perhaps the coaches don’t know what they are doing!!! Armartey is far more mobile than McLean, particularly when the ball hits the ground, and in my opinion reads the play a lot better. Armartey wasn’t great Friday night but conditions played a big part in that for tall forwards in both sides

We should revert to our high pressure, more defensive minded game style that was very successful for us in the pat. The turnover game has worked for us before and we should have enough experience and leadership on filed to switch between the 2 styles at the right time. If we want to win a premiership, we will have to learn to do this.

It's been disappointing how little defensive effort and offensive coordination we've been getting from our tall forwards lately. Of course it won't happen, but I would drop Curnow and Amartey for Hamling and Corey Warner for the next game. Both have been good in the reserves.

We are looking down the fun barrel of a big loss unless we change up something. We might as well be proactive.
We definitely did change between our run and carry, to wide and then long over the back through the game

it was pointed out by Cox we left it too late on the field to change it up.

so we do have a plan B and C in attack but we may need to agree on the field when to change gears earlier

You cannot play Curnow and McLean in the same team. The forward line works because it is open. Cox said exactly this as the reason McLean was omitted. I might add his performance in the VFL against a weakened Collingwood team was not great

I just want to add with Kardinia Park being a narrow ground, Chris Scott will able to take the advantage of being able to further strangehold our corridor run and even prevent us going wide. I suspect he will employ a stranglehold team tactic on the Lizard to limit his effectivrness, rather than playing a defensive forward on him.

Cox used the words "adapt" and "mature" when describing on where we need to improve with our game plan in his post match presser.

Some media pundits are questioning whether our forward handball game will hold up in finals.

I take the view it's better to be exposed now and learn, rather than in the finals when it's too late, as we did in the 24 GF.

it will be tough against the Cats this week, but hopefully also pivotal in the long run, even if we don't get the win.
Just a thought but if it is a narrow ground, is there any need to go the corridor?

We normally play well down there.

I agree 100% and i think Cox knows that it cant work all of the time. We need to have an alternative(s) if the main game isn’t working. Ryan o’keefe made a similar observation when commentating on the Melb game

The uncontested transition thru the midfield by Collingwood was glaring. Good teams will destroy that, if Chris Scott (best at it) pulls us apart next week with game plan, that will be a blueprint for other teams and a reason for us to pivot the way we play.

Best thing last game was when Blakey said the review against Roos was like a loss, at least they appear to be taking the lessons.

And lastly Bice needs to go first option, he holds the ball and takes ground to put himself under pressure when there is no need and play the % when the game is tight, saving a ball that was going out of bounds and tapping the other one clear both to the Pies advantage, absolute brain fades

There was one passage of play where Edwards had possession running into the midfield and hand passed ahead where a big kick would have landed the ball at around 20 metres out from goal. He is such a booming kick that he should have used it to give our forwards a chance. By the way, Edwards has been a revelation. I thought the delivery to our forwards was pretty ordinary.

I reckon Bice has been very soft in the contest. Seems to be playing bruise free footy. I feel we have genuinely missed Roberts with his long kicks forwared.

What i noticed was when McInerney went in for the centre ball, up we were far better on the centre clearances.

Hopefully we have been in a mini slump but have managed to win.

It was a very welcome surprise to bag those 4 points.
The Swans will be hunted now and games will be harder
    to win .
