Giants are continuing their recent good form. I wonder if they had a deep and meaningful team meeting after their loss to the Eagles.

The ABC radio commentators said something very interesting during the second quarter of the Giants/Dees game after Harvey Thomas kicked a goal for the Giants......that Thomas is playing his 50th game today and he has played at 16 different venues in those 50 games.

They then said that Pendlebury, in his 434 games has played at 11. I shouted "are you ****ing serious?!"

That truly truly sucks and coupled with the fact that the GF is superglued to the MCG for another 25years, really shows the cruisy nature of AFL life for some Victorian teams.

And the majority of his away games would have probably been at Marvel.

That's away games with some travelling involved. He also would have played many away games at the MCG.

I think it was Thunder Shaker who provided stats on Pendlebury's record. He's played around 75% of his games at the MCG or Marvel and has never played at Geelong.

Here are Pendlebury's statistics from afltables: Scott Pendlebury.

11 venues. 434 games, 274 at the MCG (63%). Docklands is second at 57 games (13%).

Three of those venues are not active AFL venues: Football Park (SA), Stadium Australia (NSW), Subiaco (WA).

The other eight venues are the eight main venues where the AFL plays games: Perth Stadium (WA), Adelaide Oval (SA), MCG and Docklands (Vic), SCG and Sydney Showground (NSW), Gabba and Carrara (Qld).

Pendlebury has never played at Kardinia Park. Neither has Steele Sidebottom (365 games). These two players are numbers 1 and 2 on the all-time list of players who have never played at Kardinia Park. Number 3 is Gordon Coventry (306 games). Kardinia Park was not a venue until after Coventry retired.

103 games in 21 years outside Victoria. Only 21 games in Perth.

So far, it appears that Essendon aren't getting the dead coach bounce.

I wonder what sort of force Harley Reid can generate with that fend of his?

He’s elite already. If he stays injury free, he’s got at least a Dangerfield level career ahead of him. I remember watching him as an under ager in the u18s grand final and he was wildly above everyone else even giving them a year. I hate tanking so credit to them but boy did Norf cost themselves when they won the final match of 2023 to go 17th on the ladder.

I'm almost starting to feel sorry for Essendon, with the truly dire umpiring that they're currently suffering.

FWIW, Sullivan Rabey is going to be a gun.
