So funny - I certainly enjoyed that win more than a thumping

Odd game. For extended periods (2nd half of 1st quarter and 1st half of 2nd and 3rd quarters) we seemed to be lax and had terrible skills and defensive pressure.

But in the end what a cracker! Good to know when we're behind we have that dog in us though. Had to really fight and scrap for the last quarter, with players on the bench and St Kilda playing rough high tempo footy.

Edwards was so good, particularly after he lost his senior partner in McCartin. A lot of young blokes would lose their nerve but he got better as the game went on. He’s got a big job over the next few weeks with the club inevitably going to take it slowly with Tom, but buy we’ve found a player. Whether it was the short kick to Chad or the huge long roost inside 50 with a minute to go, he got it right.

One of the things I loved about today was the contribution of ‘lesser’ players. Chad and Isaac did their thing but Rosas, Edwards, McDonald, Serong and Lloyd were fantastic. And loved the smarts of that play from Jordon to sit well back from the last centre bounce knowing DeKoning would try to thump the ball forward.

We’ve got some work to do and some injury worries but finding a way to win that was immense.

McLean is not a second ruck. Forward who can at best chop out as 3rd ruck. Medical room to decide our team next week.

Yes, very frustrating how many stupid errors and poor (usually over-fancy) decisions we made. I don’t know what the frees count was but I felt the Saints got the better of the rub - not just what was paid but also a lot (for us) that weren’t. One total shocker was the early free to Ryan when he dropped to his knees as if in religious ecstasy and was rewarded with a free. Pathetic umpiring and they need to be better at identifying staging and not rewarding it. Still we were overall our own biggest problem, plus some bad luck with injuries too. Ultimately a blood-pumping win

The Serong goal reminded me a lot of the last goal in the 2012 Grand Final.

Look, I know we have a lot to work on and playing scintillating bursts of football for just 15 minutes or so isn't going to cut it come finals time.

                But I am stoked!

I hate St.Kilda and we gave them a 5 goal start, had 2 important players injured and on the bench and they still couldn't knock us off!

                GO BLOODS!

We did not deserve to win that one. Very sloppy disposal, careless tackling, lots of looking at the ball as it rolled by, and no talking to each other. Really some ludicrous plays during the game. We were so lucky to win it. Highlight I thought was Edwards who played well, and is getting better every week. Who will replace McCartin? Oh and heart stopping stuff at the end.

Agree entirely with this post.....and on Serong, I'll put this excerpt from the 'six things we learned' article on the AFL website:

"Sydney's victory over St Kilda showcased the incredible resilience of the Swans' depth players, with no one encapsulating that better than Jai Serong. Even after losing key players like Justin McInerney and Tom McCartin to injury and leaving their medical room completely stretched, the Swans found a way to stay in the hunt and pull off a thrilling, down-to-the-wire victory. And it was Serong who emerged as the match hero, stepping up when his team needed him most. Showing crucial versatility when McCartin left the field — and with both Dane Rampe and Lewis Melican already sidelined — Serong's experience as a key defender allowed him to seamlessly shift into the backline, and then shift forward and secure the win with a memorable goal."

He's been a great pick up has Jai.

Apparently Ladhams played another blinder in the two's with the insane stats of 35 touches, 25 hitouts, 10 clearances, seven score involvements, eight marks and six inside-50s......wow!

I was so disappointed when he got dropped this week.

I prefer to take the glass half full approach and say that with Gulden, Papley, Rampe and Melican out and then McInnerny and McCartin off in the second half, it was a magnificent win on a day when we weren't at our best.....but yeah, we do have to polish up on a few things.

                          Two things

                          - Serong has played a grand total of 22 games of AFL. Unreal.

                          - Suck on that St Kilda for what you did to the Academy. Enjoy your latest 12th place finish you scumbags.

Sweet Brazen Daylight theft of 4 Premiership points !!
They should all be arrested. The Aints will still think they’ve won that game.

What’s happened to our ru/overlap/carry/overlap corridor goals?

It seems teams are now shutting down the corridor....we need to come up with a fix for that. Yep, the old 'Plan B'.

Is our run and carry handball fwd, setup for the MCG when it matters ?

Can just be hard too execute at the SCG when space is taken away ?

Ladhams needs to come in before Grundy goes down and Ladhams is the number 1 Ruck. Was worked over again.

Curnow and Logan being free to roam up the ground are why 3 talls works.

Mclean is unlucky, Amartey is ahead of him.
