Freo have the deepest midfield/running brigade in the comp. When you add hard running outside the square players like Erasmus, Johnson and O’Driscoll to Serong, Jackson, Young, Brayshaw, Reid, Bolton - let alone their small forwards - it’s quite impressive.

They also have no injuries

Nice that Gold Coast launched a comeback, after Hawthorn looked like running away with it. Many Hawthorn players are very unlikeable.

Weddle should get weeks for breaking Rioli's jaw. And hopefully Ginnivan will get a suspension, for the jumper punches and for dropping his knee into Uwland.

And personally, I also think that Newcombe should be looked at, for the late elbow into Rowell's kidney, well after Rowell had completed the mark.

It might have been awful football, but North Melbourne were good enough to win it. They've now won seven games this season, which is more games than they have won in any season since 2019. They can still play bad football, see their Fremantle game for an example. But they have improved, and should finish outside the bottom four.
