Look at Freo, there talls are all kids yet you know they are in the area when the ball is in the air.

Infuriating watching him play, im all aboard the Mclean train now, especially as a permanent fwd.
Play Mclean deep and let Logan and Curnow Roam.

Im interested to hear about where our offer goes too, they always say its a risk to not sign but im not sure anyone has ever really felt any consequences getting injured when they could have signed.
Id pay him 450k, with the other 300k coming after 16 games and 45 goals. Could only imagine what others on our team are thinking if he is demanding 700+
750k is not much above the average wage these days. I’m not here to champion Amartey’s cause but it’s not ridiculous.

Yeah I get that and I probably went a bit hard

Amarteys value is in Unrestricted Free Agency, you dont need to trade for him.

The problem with 750k for him is 10 players on the team could argue they are worth more and again I get tall fwd etc etc.

Miocek, Mcstay, Oscar Allen he is at or mostly below that level and I doubt any of their previous teams are upset they are gone.

Just a risk we dont need to take with Curnow and Logan signed long term with Mclean more than a reasonable substitute

        Based on my knowledge:

        - Chad and Errol are in the $1m+ club
        - Isaac is on $1m
        - Charlie took a bit less per year when he arrived, but got the extra year
        - Grundy is on $950K, but the Pies paid $300 per year of that
        - Mills, McCartin, Blakey and Paps on or a bit over $800K, with incentives included
        - Don't know what Juzzy re-signed for, but I'm guessing it is close to that.
        - Logan signed for about $700-750K

But we also have some bargains. JJ signed for $400k when we gave him four years. Now, he gets bonuses too. He would have gotten a decent reward for his B&F finish last year, for example. Think we got Serong cheap too. Likewise, we traded security for salary when we gave McLean four years, but it was at $300K with incentives.

My understanding is our cap isn't in too bad a shape right now. It's tight but manageable. It's what we have to do in 27 and 28 with the amount of stars heading into renewal that'll be a challenge.

Hard to argue against any of that as far as what players currently earn and I think alot if teams will be in the same boat in a couple of years

I just read via Roar, Amarteys offer is 3 mil over 6 yrs by the Swans.
Obviously a bit of hearsay in that but that is the level id be comfortable signing him at, no need to do anything silly.

The big debate on here next year will be what we do when WCE throw $2m a year at Chad, and they will. My understanding is he's a lot more settled these days and might be inclined to stay, but he'll need to leave a lot of money on the table to do so. We simply won't be able to match that, even with the uplift in the CBA, given what else we have to do over '27 and '28. All of Chad, Isaac, Errol, Grundy and McCartin are up for renewal, and that's before we get to a batch of 'lesser' lights like JJ, Serong, Edwards, Roberts, etc.

Errol and Chad will stay high but like every star, there is always more money available.

Isaac has been paid well for years, remembering when North came for him, so id say it will be more about length of deal given he is 30. His later years can be spent in the goalsquare, so happy to keep paying him

Grundy wont be an issue, I doubt his next deal is a payrise given his age

Tom just needs an incentive based contract, I doubt many clubs will come for him, given his injury history

Like any list there are always lesser likes that can be lured.

We need tall defenders, we have to try Snell and hope Riak comes on too and we can get a steal between them like we did with Edwards
