Team List Team Selection: R18 v Freo @ Optus

    IN: Papley, Dattoli
    OUT: Hanily, Co Warner

Would not be surprised if Bice also comes in for Kyle, but i wouldn't rush back in yet after just one strong VFL perfornance. He was dropped due to his defensive errors, which i'm not sure if he's rectified them as yet in the selectors eyes.

Hsmling will be needed down back to assist negating Freo' s 3 talls plus a resting Luke Jackson. So we'll be with a 2 talls forward setup, but have flexibility to throw Hamling up forward if required by playing Serong down back.

I'm selecting Dattoli as the additional small forward option along with Papley. I think he now deserves his chance after a string of good VFL performances, as i do rate him.

Hanily and Co Warner didn't do too much wrong, but not strong enough performances to hold their places.

Just can't picture Cleary, Hamling getting up on the dias collecting a medal

They have a role but its purely coverage

Bice best is better, deserved to be dropped, straight back in.
Hamling did a role, Melican is 10x better

A bit harsh on Corey, who I thought played well last week, but I suppose dropping people who don't really deserve to be dropped is a good sign.

Good sign or poor match committee, time will tell

            Melican, Rosas, Bice, Cootee, Corey
Drop them and send a message, see if they perform, get them back in

            Hamling, Cleary, Hannily
Give them a series of games, regardless of how they perform

And I dont care how Hamling performs fwd, no team is winning a premiership with that role in their fwd line

Sounds like Hamling is the perfect defender both in the forward line or the back.
Hopefully he plays Alex Pearce smartly.
not that he would be out long term defensive player in the forward half.

They would have 4 forwards who are very tall. And we need to negate that. We have only 2 defenders who are tall. So it means Blakey will have to play on Voss who will try and tag him out. His offensive output will be lower.

We are at least one goal better because of Papley. That is a massive positive

And we may have better legs than them given their 5 day break from interstate travel. If we are close enough in the final quarter it would play a part

Rampe will go to Amiss, always does

If Melican is in, Blakey doesn't have to defend

This ground is made for Bice on the wing

I wouldn't be surprised if Cleary drops out after his bump last week and a short break

There are always role players that collect medals on grand final day.

Agree but tomorrow night we would be better with

Melican, Bice, Rosas over Hamling, Hannily, Cleary

                      In your opinion lol.

Bice was horrendous in his last senior game, Rosas anonymous. They both played well in reserves, but equally I can see why they weren't selected. Melican v Hamling a tougher one for mine - Melican when fit is a very solid defender, but Hamling equally is very solid too. I don't mind that selection to be honest for the time being, although come finals it could easily be the other way around.
