Sadly we spent all the tickets in the third, writing was on the wall - we would have to be the worst side in the top 6 wouldn’t we ?

This team has very low footy IQ. So much absolutely stupid decision making in the last quarter. Awful last quarter, including from some of our leaders.
We wasted our chances in the third and they've taken every single one of their chances in the last.
We aren't winning anything with this team any time soon. They are hopeless under pressure."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I have to agree, we were hopeless the last quarter. We need a change of our game plan every team seems to know this one!!!!!!!!Comment

Any ideas on what's going wrong with this team folks? They look unfit. Are they unfit? Who is the fitness coach? That was a great 3rd quarter but they were spent after it, same as in WA last week. Is it a psychological problem? Did we bring back players like Errol and Paps too quickly? What's going on? Do we just not have the talent? Oh and Heeney's carrying an injury isn't he? he must be...Comment

Our tall forwards were both well held and absolutely abysmal. Curnow unsighted, and McLean I'm afraid just isn't good enough. And McDonald worked hard but offered very little. 20 touches between the three of them, just 4 marks and 1 goal 3. Yes conditions were utterly awful for parts of the game, but that is nowhere near enough. Especially when none of them at all are reliable set shots either."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Another great last quarter by us. Nothing up forward except Papley. Curnow was well held but had to contend with 2-3 players against him most times. One of the worse games I have seen by Errol.Comment

The way to beat us is pretty simple.
One on one defence and make it a contested footy game. We cannot out mark the opposition in a contest offensively or defensively. We cannot beat any serious team in contested possession game. And we cannot get to the ground balls. The opposition knows that they just need to make it a scrap heap in the middle or in the defensive 50 for us and we will crumble under pressure.
We are carrying too many soft players or players who cannot play the contested game. our bottom 6-8 players are totally non existent.
Rosas should not get another game based on that performance. He did not do anything except give away 2 free kicks for holding the opposition m.
Sheldrick gets plenty of the ball but doesn’t do any damage with it. It is totally useless. Roberts has gone backwards this year. Bice I am still not sure of him in defence.Comment

Fitness appears sub-par but they are weak as piss between the ears. When the going gets tough, too many either go to water with decision making (some shocking moments from Grundy, McLean, Bice, Rampe to name just a few in that last) or just aren't up for the fight and the tussle. Crows were great in the last (and I don't care what the pressure rating nonsense says), but we dropped off sharply.Any ideas on what's going wrong with this team folks? They look unfit. Sheldrick is also hampered because he can't play the minutes. Only 62% again tonight - that's not good enough for one of our few that can win the ball in and under.Rosas should not get another game based on that performance. Roberts has been up and down - far from our worst tonight, but bad decision making hurts him. And Bice a) can't defend and b) is iffy as buggery with his decision making. Wouldn't mind him being swapped with Serong (when we don't have injuries that force him back) and have him purely up the field on the wing. Only position I reckon he could possibly make it at AFL level.
What on earth is going on with Errol since he has come back. Been absolutely awful by his lofty standards - still not fit, or just not fully committed to the cause at the moment. His form is awful, and his fitness way below where it should be. The worry is he's been back a few weeks now and is getting worse, not better."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Thanks for the response MCS...As for Errol, I think it's between the ears, as you say. He's certainly not back to his best.

Yep something not right. More worried about berating others then getting stuck in. Maybe not fit/feeling confident in his body, but we need a lot better from him."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I believe that game may very well have been lost at selection. We were up against the best defensive/contest team in the comp and they bring in 2 of our softest players in Rosas and Bice. Rosas is a deadset sponge cake. He hates body contact and got beaten one on one every time. How about at the end of the 3rd quarter when he actually looked to have is opponent cold and out the back, when he inexplicably tried to turn on to his left foot and slipped over. He was away with only the goals in front of him. Then Bice; he despises body contact and gives us no run at all. That soft kick late in the game sums him up. Takes a mark, is clear and tries to spot up a 30 metre pass when all of Australia knew he had to kick it long. Where in the hell was he in the first quarter when they ate goals off the ruck contest. You you can almost see him whince when he goes near a contest. He had one tackle.
We may have spent our petrol tickets in the 3rd quarter but it doesn't excuse the fact that they slaughtered us out of the centre like they did in the first quarter. What in the heck was McLean doing when he kicked it sideways.
That's close to Heeney's worst game. Yet he had 29 possessions. Not questing his endevour, but some of his really poor decision making. Every week he gets a clean possession at a centre bounce, gets around his man, then handpassess backwards. Everyone knows quick centre clearances are vital with the 666. Oh no, not us. Warner was the only player trying to get clear. It drives me spare that this has been our Achilles heel for years. In the last quarter Heeney has the ball on the HFF, clear on his left side and he tries to get back on to his right foot. He could have darn near kicked a goal on his left.
Another thing I noticed; very close to half time, I saw on the AFL app who was on the bench, Campbell for 8 minutes. He was playing a great game. Meanwhile Rosas was nowhere to be seen.
Mills and McCartin played terrific games, but Roberts was back to his 2025 static game. Warner is an absolute star as is Papley.
Hall-Kahan is one that got away.
We hang on to second by our finger nails.

It might be a fitness thing. He doesn't seem to be getting to as many contests/stoppages. His kicking was pretty good. Did we use him in many centre clearances?Comment
