    Reality Hits

The next few weeks will tell us where we are at. I was getting excited but we are yet to play a top 4 side.

    Upcoming games:
    Rnd 9 - Hawks
    Rnd 10 - Roos
    Rnd 11 - Saints
    Rnd 12 - Woods

Weren't the Bulldogs in the top 4 before we played them?

    We've also got Rounds 13, 14 & 15 of Freo, Adelaide & WC respectively.

It reminds me of last year - around round 13 or 14 when we were criticised for not having beaten a team above us on the ladder.

Yes it's hard to do when you are in the top four yourself, only leaves three other teams....and we haven't lost to them either!

On the flipside though, we've got a long run of mostly home games, something like 3 from the next 4 and 7 from the next ten, so that's nice.

The list of teams we've beaten over the last 5 weeks is, with the exception of the Dogs, less than imposing. (The Dogs put in another losing performance this weekend that was, in context, outstanding.)

I'm not too worried about that, though, because:
            a) you can only beat the team that turns up, and
            b) Sydney traditionally rises to the challenge and plays with greater intensity against the better teams.

Roos in Canberra is a serious danger game this w/e, though. The matches we've played agin' them in Canberra have appeared to play out on their own terms, without too much regard to the form of the teams going into it. The Roos may not be too flash, but they're better than 2-7.

We seriously must win against North Melbourne as convincing as possible. I remember last year n we copped a loss in Canberra. North are for the tip this year and we'd like to get this one past us.

I agree here. There are few teams that give me the pip more than North.

I would love to crunch them and give Junkyard a head ache of all mighty proportions.

For me, this is revenge for the insipid performance down there last year of which I made the wasteful trek for.

Apart from the Pies-Weagles match, none of the top teams have played each other recently.

We have convincingly won against the teams we've been drawn against so should be happy.

I think Sydney should seriously be aiming for a top 2 position and therefore a home run through the finals.

We were fortunate to have our PF at the MCG last year as opposed to a PF at Subiaco or AAMI - both of which are possibles again this year.

A bit premature, don't you think?

                      I don't think so.

We are defending premiers so why not aim for the best positions?

How can it be premature when we are nearly 1/2 way through the season. That's like saying it is premature at the start of the season to aim at winning the premiership.

I'm very excited about the next few weeks. This weekend's game is the one that has me worried atm, maybe because of history, but probably because it's the closest

The St Kilda and Collingwood games should be fantastic. We should be able to knock them off, especially with the home ground and the crowd to help bring the boys home.

I haven't been this excited about footy since......well since last year

Top 2 would be ideal. & absolutely something to "Aim for". But i get nervous when we start talking like this when there's so far to go.

I remember Saints started talking about going undefeated after round 10 in 2004. As soon as they said it I knew we were a chance to beat them in R11.

I just prefer to stick to the old footy cliches like "1 week at a time" etc.
