    Bring back the Swannettes? :P

Anyone have any decent pictures of the Swannettes of the 80's?

Everyone that talks about the 80's seems to rave about them a lot (not just Capper!), and wanted to know what they looked like? (Did they have pom-poms?)

Perhaps we should have them again, since league has theirs..

Footy "Puritans" from Melbourne (or Bleak City) wouldn't allow it.

Didn't read the Sam Lane articles on the weekend?

I would rather there be plenty of safe happy women (includes the better half) amongst the crowd than 22 pom pomers fake smiling and the crowd to be 95% hoon yobbos.

      THATS LEAGUE FOR YA!

Have to agree - I do get a little concerned as some of the scantilly clad lassies on the sideline - they must catch a chiill every weekend. I would have thought it was against occupational health and safety standards to be subject to such conditions.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

They'll feature on this week's edition of Headliners on Fox Footy. First screening is tonight at 8.30pm and then again tomorrow night.

They were a stupid distraction at the game, much like Capper's ridiculous shorts. Although as a kid I used to love how they would pump out the (then) Sydney anthem after every goal:

"Syyydney [DOOF], Syyydney [DOOF]. Show em you're the winners, show em you're the Swans, show em you're the winners, you're the miiiigghty Swans".

Ah the razzamatazz of the '80s...

I still don't hate Carlton because they had the Bluebirds.

I find it quite discriminatory that all the women at the football have their eye candy and the males have to deal with their homophobic feeling by cheering on men in short shorts and sleeveless jumpers.

The Swans should be looking after their male supporters who need to display their hetrosexuality by sharing and making lots or crude comments at 1/2 naked girls in red and white.

(insert lots of tongue smilies and big teeth smilies here for JF)

There was recently a very good article by Sam Lane in The Age about her experience as a woman going to an ARL game and the discomfort of sitting with boorish male fans whipped into a lather by the cheerleaders. I'd link it but The Age appears to have filed it and it costs $2.25 to buy. Never mind - paraphrase will do.

Anyway, if we were to bring back the cheerleaders we should bring back the pink helicopter and Leanne, and Wocca in tight shorts etc. etc.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

The heritage round is going 80's retro this year so maybe the Swans could bring them back as a one off in the game against Brisbane out at Telstra Stadium.

Would really add to the whole theme of the night.

Lucky they are often in the minority at the SCG these days, hey Cruiser!

I thought it had changed for this year. Don't we play Richmond in Heritage Round this year at the SCG??
