      Interesting article that...

Reminds me of one of my first footy games, back in 94, when the Swanettes were in their last season. Dad and I took my (married) uncle along and at half time, I always took the trek to the Brewongle concourse to watch the Swannettes in their half-time display (I was a 10-year old dance-obsessed nut back then, thank god footy got in the way!). This particular evening, the three of us went down. My uncle took a sip of his beer, and promptly spat it everywhere and burst out laughing as the girls took their positions. Dad asked what he was laughing at, and my uncle replied "See that one (pointing one of them out) - I've never seen her with her top on before!" Turns out she was a topless barmaid in the Cross. I have no idea what my married uncle was doing in a topless bar, (and never thought to ask!) but apparently said Swanette wasn't the only one to earn her non-Swans living at such establishments. I don't know if things have changed for this generation of cheergirls, but it certianly doesn't promote women as anything more than bimbo eye-candy types.

I suspect this was a typo, but actually spot on, State of Origin is put on by the Australian Rugby League, as opposed to club games run by the National Rugby League.
I hear not what you say, for the thunder of who you are.

Perhaps to avoid (or exagerate) any claims that the swans are just putting scantly clad blond bimbo girls on the field for cheap thrills, they could also have have scantly clad blond bimbo boys with them as well. :-p

Either that or bring back the Swantits and get two in one!

Hmmmm, geminimike, I'm betting that RICHO would complain about the delivery, while SHANE CRAWFORD would present well, JUDE BOLTON would go for the hard ball gets, and when Hawthorn plays St Kilda you could get it between the BALLS, not to mention when the COX go in hard,...indeed there are more COX and BALLS out there than the back rooms of some clubs!

Some players are constantly getting ridden (lucky bastards), .....MARK JOHNSON is often found man-handling, JASON BALL is always getting a few behinds, NATHAN BUCKLEY has frequently pulled a muscle, and for the transvestite fanciers, what about the guys who are skirting around the packs?
BARRY HALL is constantly stiff when it comes to frees, BEN COUSENS is a great ball-carrier, SIMON BLACK is a real ball-magnet, JOHNCOCK could speak for himself, and before you were finished at least one or more players would need to be pulled off!!!

                  The mind goes into over-drive!

But if you sit on the Hill, as I do, you don't lack for beautiful women, especially early in the season when the sun still shines warm on a Sunday afternoon, and the girls wear singlets...

Back in the Barassi days, I was there with a mate and, walking back from the bar, he commented "@@@@, there's a lot of good looking women here!"

Still is. I don't need the Swanettes, but that don't mean I don't think they're a good idea!

That wet night at the ring-in State of Origin match - maybe we could have the 30 goal umpires as well...

I think it is pretty obvious what your uncle was doing at a topless bar.

The beer was nice and cold there.

I know I'm sounding more and more like Marge every day - Its scary and I need therapy!

What I do find amazing with these cheer leader types (apart from the lack of warm clothing) is that they are major contributors to the hole in the ozone layer - all that cyclone strength hairspray is not good for the environment.

I guess when it comes to the perv factor we gals (and cruiser )have the boys too look at, so I guess its only fair that the blokes have the swannettes to get em in the mood (so to speak).
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
