Don't speak too soon re the spoon. If Port aren't going to get it (my dream result, but sadly beyond them now), then Carlton would be the 2nd-best result (Saddo notwithstanding).

And while it's very hard to see where Essendon's next win is coming from, it's just as hard to see where Carlton's is coming from (the next-lowest team on the ladder, the Roos, would at a minimum be a 5-goal better side at the moment). And by virtue of a competitive start to the year, the Dons still have a better percentage than the Blues.

So, while these things often don't go to plan, Bombers v Blues round 16 could be a grudge match for the rest of the competition to savour.

Is anyone else concerned about the integity of the competition when Essendon are openly courting the likely no.1 draft pick, Bryce Gibbs, and Sheedy talking up the early picks that Essendon will get?

This is a major issue which the AFL must address.

At the very least, a draw out of the hat between the bottom 4 teams to determine the order of the early picks would limit the farce we are currently seeing.

And the season isn't even halfway yet!!

I'm sure if we were in the bottom four we wouldn't want picks drawn from a hat.

No I don't have aproblem with that. Because the best part is that they will always be the wooden spooners for 2006.
