    Chambers playin' better..

*Looks at stats board.. 15 HO for Chambers*...

Hmm... 1 Free Against (which saved a goal)

Sure he's had his critics, but playing as crap as he was probably deserved to cop it but seems to be doing better.

Probably still should cop some flack with only 1 kick, 1 MARK.. (A ... MARK!!!).. but played okay in 3rd quarter, only the direction of the wins in the hitouts seemed to stray a bit.. (was it our midfield or our ruckman? Or maybe both?)..

With him being "competitive" in the ruck, we could really saw how much more space Jolly gets to run around freely as a tall though.. ah well we need both of them playing well for the next few games coming up..

I thought Torture was better for us than Jolly today. Good rebound from last week - well done Paul!

I dunno. I was pretty happy to see him sit out the last 1/4 myself.

        A bit better again today.
The commentators admitted he does have his detractors!!!!! but he was rucking well today.

This is where I 'fess up that I got so pissed off with the Swans that at 3/4 time I went down the park with my daughter & kicked the footy. So I never saw the last qr...

Fortunately one of my other girls is a true believer & she sat down & wrote down the score for me, point by point, to show me when I got home. Smiles & hugs all round....

In the first 3 quarters Jolly was physically present...but his mind was somewhere else. Chambers at least competed. In Q$ Jolly was one of the reasons we won..must have received a tremendous (deserved) rocket!

Our centre clearances were the main reason we won the last 1/4 and Chambers was on the bench. Maybe beacause Jolly actually did pull the finger out as well.

I will acknowledge that Chambers has improved though, 15 HO is not bad, and I'm sure/hope this will continue. He just seems a tad slow ATM though.

                chambers/jolly marking failure

if you measure both chambers/jolly marking against the Roos tall players marking under the SAME playing condition, I think our talls FAIL US today. The Roos talls seem to be marking MUCH better.
Our talls need to work on successful marking ( & kicking for goals) - if they contribute at the centrer/stoppages & a few marks and 1-2 goals each (yes, that include Chambers) , they would have done their part. Otherwise, they are average.
However, great to see Jolly at forward past 1-2 games. Have to start to learn to contribute in this area. - its better late than never.
Practise & PRACTISE, chamber/Jolly - show that both of you can contribute effectively to support the present effective shorter forwards & Hall. Mixing up the tall, the short & the strong at forward would be powerful combination.

I agree Smartplay. We lack tall around the ground marking, but we continue to get away with it.

Did Torture have a mark today or were my eyes deceiving me?

I also think he is improving...not a lot, but bit by bit each week. It's only a matter of time now before he gets his first goal.

The Torch got into a lot of contests all over the ground and into a few tackles. His ruckwork was average/good, and even though he gave away a free for his attempted tackle, at least he was making it a contest. Every other Swans player at that point was actively ignoring North players on the run and letting them free.

I think the Torch just keeps getting better. Trust Paul Roos on this one.

Chambers rucked well today. Earl Shaw is nowhere near it.

Torture was reasonable today, are you sure you weren't watching a replay of a game from earlier in the season?

I liked it when he grabbed the ball and it took 3 Roos to stop him running, that's what I like to see.

While he is competing in the ruck, I don't remember any of his hitouts being to advantage.

Jolly finally pull his finger out in the last quarter and had a couple of hitouts to advantage that contributed to quick clearances and eventually the win.

However, Chambers is unlikely to be drop until Doyle put together several good full games in the Reserves and given Doyle's track record, Chambers may be safe!

                              Cheers
