    McVeigh doing apprenticeship?

Seems that McVeigh is moving the same way Ablett and Kirk have become tough midfielders, by tagging opposition players and keeping quiet.

We all know Kirk did it for a while, then eventually managed to get 20-30 disposals on the back of it, now is a power player.

Ablett did some tagging in the last couple of years and has become such a tough nut in the middle.

It's good to see McVeigh improving the way that the first two have been.

Gotta love the player management by the swans by just easing the players into their careers. (Along with McVeigh also Malceski)

While today might not have been a 'best players list' game for him, I was really heartened by what I saw. Disciplined on his player, and really put his body on the line and kept it there, unlike in days of yore when he tended to be thrown around like a rag doll.

We will pick up little bits and pieces of nail, wood and shrapnel from the side of the highway, and rebuild that bandwagon piece by piece...

Today was an odd day, in that some less-fancied players (Ablett, Schneider) really took a step up at important times, when many of their teammates seemed content to turn up and coast.

McVeigh is doing well in his "tagger"role. He really needs to work on the basics still.Whilst his kicking has improved he still seems to zone out and give some crappy handballs putting his mates under pressure.

          Ball-up Benny is his mentor?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
