Jolly is definately above avergae!!!!! He can not be the leading tap getter for a single game (54) from memory against the Bullies this year if he is simply average.

I think his tap work is fantastic, however, I would like to see him present himself around the ground more.

I rate him good to very good and he is a PREMIERSHIP ruckman!

I think it was 46. Not a lot of opposition against the Bulldogs though.

      So were Capuano and Alessio...

Capuano was actually VERY good before his injury. And that injury was career ending even though he kept at it. I can say this with affirmity, because I know him personally.

Yeah, he was quite good, but I couldn't be bothered going back any further than 1999.

It's a tough one because they can tap well most of the time but when they are up against better spring or taller blokes they don't get much hand on the ball.

So against a good ruck combo, they don't ruck well and if they aren't creative around the ground (read: if they are fumbling, slow, non-marking amateurs), then we're in strife.

This issue is chronic and priority number one at the end of the season.
            *sigh*

            Jolly is 4th, Chambers 19th ...

Ted Richards will not get any better as a player - Why not bring on Luke Vogels and try to develop him to see if he has a future down back?

Yes - traditionally fans hated the opposition. On this site all the hatred seems to be directed at Swans players.

If anything he seems to have dropped off. I remember in the opening rounds thinking this bloke may actually be a good pick up, he looks promising, but now just seems to be another fringe player.
He has been given a good run, now give Vogels 10 games in a row to prove himself!

Barry, LRT (his first real belting this year, I reckon) Richards (kept getting moved to try and find an opponent who didn't pants him) Barry, Kennelly (beaten by Green!!!!) Jolly and Chambers all were just terrible.

They looked outclassed, which was bizarre. Sure delivery was good etc, etc, but beaten one on one or two on two over and over. I couldn't believe it.

I wonder what the stats are for contested marks by Jolly and Chambers over 10 games. 90% sure Torture has not taken even one. Would be a league bottom. Jolly hardly any at either end of the ground. Add to this that they are easily the two worst ruckmen in the comp below their knees and frankly, I 'm getting sick of it. Jolly is actually worse than Benny at failing to pick up a bouncing ball. Compare to the skillful talls, Cox, Fraser etc it is shameful.

IMO Jolly has been reading too much stuff about himself and needs to actually look at his output. He is the 20th ranked Ruckman in the comp....Chambers is 43rd and dead last.
All this and we still won!!!

last week it was no Hall, no win. Don't let the genius of one man hide the deficiencies of 10 others.

Obviously the tap work of Jolly is good and Chambers satisfactory. this didn't need saying as the thread is about talls in general getting badly beaten on Sunday.

It is a concern therefore that our ruckmen rate 20th and 43rd in the comp (out of 43) for TOTAL performance....ie including hitouts to advantage as well as kicks, clangers etc.

Why was Earl Sha promoted if he is a long way from ready?

Note that brisbane, Essendon and Adelaide have played 18 year old ruckmen this year and Maric and Clark even though playing as second Ruck have still equalled Jolly's output as first ruck for us!!

Can't believe its not worth trying shaw
